The 'Rent's Little Helper

If I wasn't around to snoopervise, nothing would ever get done around here! We are already behind in our tree decorating and I was tying to get Mommy to pick up the pace a little. The only problem was that orange menace came up seconds after this photo was taken and I ran from him...taking the tree skirt with me. I have to remember to retract my claws when I take off from under the tree. To make matters worse, Mommy laughed at me.
At least I don't have to go to the VET on Friday like some Calicos I know...

Formerly Feral Friday - My Vet Visit

This was what I saw first thing yesterday morning!
This was what happened to me shortly after seeing the PTU!
I did not like it very much...AT ALL!
We were on our way to see Dr Joe!
Don't you just hate waiting rooms?
The exam room looked a little scary to me!
I decided to come out of the PTU! Dr. Joe gave me a very nice exam, he said my teeth looked like the teeth of a one year old cat! My weight was perfect and I have shiny furs and very bright eyes. My ticker sounded very healthy and I have no fleas! He said that I was perfect!!! He still had to give me a shot, but I hardly felt it at all. I did warn him that when Puff and Powder visit him next month that they may not be as sweet and well behaved as me. He thanked me for the tip and said that he'd be ready for them! Mommy was very happy that I was in tip-top shape.
See? I AM perfect! Dr. Joe said so!
I was very glad to get back home and tell everyone...
...right after my nap!
Going to the vet for regular wellness checks is part of what makes me formerly feral. Even though going there is not a lot of fun for us kitties, it's important that we are checked for potential health problems even if we seem OK. We kitties are experts at hiding any illness or owies we might have. I'm grateful to be so lucky and I wish all kitties had it as good as I do.
Smoochies to you on this wonderful Friday!

The Rudy Report

I crack me up!
Hi everykitty, it's me, Rudy with the Rudy Report! I have to tell you - when Mommy goes away for the day to spend some time with her girlfriends and Daddy decides to take a nap in the afternoon, it's A LOT of fun to leap in his unprotected lap! I even learned some new words that I cannot repeat here.
That's what he gets for having me neutered. Revenge is a dish best served cold...

Easy Like Sunday For Some of Us

Parker: It's Sunday, it's supposed to be easy!
Powder: Then why is Mommy going to work today?
Parker: 'Cause beans aren't as smart as us.
Powder: This is true...

Watch out Rudy, that's a little high!

Somekitty peed on the dropcloth too! Daddy was not happy about that!

Formerly Feral Friday - Being On The Right Side Of The Door

This is one of my mommy's favorite photos of me ever.
You see kitties, I do this a lot when the door is open. I get up on my back toes and I look out. But I never cry to be let out and I never try to run out of an open door. Mommy says that's because I know it's much better to always be on this side of the door.
(And you know what kitties? She's right!)
Smooches to you and have a wonderful Friday!

Chimney's Aren't Just For Santa Anymore!

Always keep your eyes to the skies kitties!
I really, really, really got into big trouble this weekend.
I decided to go exploring. Without permission.
On our roof. And Chimney. It rocked!
Daddy and I were deck chillaxin' and quick as a flash I got the urge to climb...
so up, up and away I went! I can be pretty swift when I wanna' be!

Try to imagine me on the top of that chimney. You can see lots of stuff from that high up!
(and yes, that is Santa's Sleigh - he leaves it here all year!)

Here's an old photo of the back of our home to give you perspective.

Here's my route - railing, taller railing, low roof, tall roof, chimney...
Easy Peazey!

Here's another photo of our deck (pre-chicken wire) for perspective.

Daddy had to climb up to the roof to catch, er, ah, I mean rescue me. It was quite dramatic for both Mommy and Daddy, for some reason, they don't think I belong on the roof.

There are no actual photos of me getting caught, er ah, I mean rescued. The 'rents were both too worried about getting me down than getting the camera. I fear I am grounded unless both Mommy AND Daddy are on the deck together.

Easy Like Sunday - Sunny Nap

This time of year the sun shines through our dining room window in the afternoon. When the 'rents are in the kitchen making dinner and there is nice music playing in the house and everything is calm it almost makes me forget that I am ACTUALLY TOUCHING RUDY!

Thursday 13 - It's Full Of Tags!

Hey kitties, have you ever had one of those weeks where your Mommy is so busy that she comes home from hunting and hardly has the energy left to take your dictation down? Yeah, never happened to me either...ppppfffffttt...
So, regardless of how busy my Mommy is I have been tagged for a lot of Memes. I am going to combine them all together and make them a Thursday 13. Pretty clever, eh?
The first Meme is the "How I Got My Name" Meme. I am sorry that I am not linking back to the wonderful kitties who asked. It is my concession to Mommy, who really, really, really is having a very busy and stressful work week. But enough about her issues, here is my story...
My name was destined to start with a "P." There was no doubt about this because Puff and Powder were already here and I had a "One Who Came Before" sister-kitty named Payton who was very dear to the family. My name had to start with "P" and when my Daddy first spotted this feral, skinny, sorry-looking kitty in the alley behind his apartment (me!!!), the "I wonder what I can name this kitty" had started - even before my Mommy knew I existed. If you click on my Catster badge you can learn a lot more about this. Anyway, as I started to trust Daddy and it became apparent that I was going to join the family, Mommy and Daddy started to try out names. Here are some examples that did not pass the test - Pumpkin (please, me?, Pumpkin?), Posey, Pandora, Pella, Piker, Puck, Peeker and Pouilly (pronounced Poo-Lay) 'cause that's my Mom's favorite wine. Pouilly almost was my name, but Mommy did NOT want my nick-name to be "Poo." Parker seemed to fit and I would look at Daddy when he said it. Parker it was - but here's the thing a lot of you kitties don't know. My name is pronounced like this...."Paaaakha." Why? Because of a little girl who lived in the apartment next to my Daddy. She was fascinated by me and always would point at me and say "Paaaaaaaakha!" It stuck. And I am glad it did, cause if you knew me in real life, I am a Paaaaaaaaakha. For you kitties in the Boston area, you say my name correctly without even thinking! I love my name. I think it suits me very well. So, there is my name story. Now, for your reading pleasure, the "Seven Random Things About Me" Meme. This is gonna be fun, 'cause I am all about the random. I amaze Mommy and Daddy every day. Here we go!

  • It's no secret that we now have a 2nd floor deck at our new home in O Hi O. But what you don't know is that when I am allowed to go out there I meow with pleasure for about a full minute and roll and sharpen my claws in ecstasy. It's quite a little show I put on and always makes mommy and Daddy smile.

  • I'm a soft purrer. Hardly can hear me. So soft. So quiet. But I purr.
  • Tummy rubs? Bring 'em on! I don't attack you, I don't resist, I submit to the rub. Love 'em!
  • I tolerate my feline siblings. Sorry, that's the best I can say. I tolerate them. I am not a kitty who snuggles with my sibs. Rudy is a bully at times and Puff is a priss. Powder is so shy and teeny-tiny that I am afraid I'll hurt her.
  • I high-five for treats. It's the only trick I know on a consistent basis. But I have it down to a science!
  • I MUST sleep next to Daddy's head ON HIS PILLOW every night. This is not negotiable.
  • I had five kittens before I became formerly feral. I brought every one of them to Daddy's apartment while I was feral so that we would all be safe on his porch. (They were all spayed and neutered and adopted to great homes). I was spayed with my kittens at the same time. Daddy got a group discount.
  • I can count and know this is number 8. If you have not noticed, My eyes are 2 different colors. Blue and gold. Mommy calls me her Meeeeechigan kitty. My hearing is fine, thanks for wondering about that!
  • My meow is very unique. It is loud and sharp. You can't ignore it. Ever.
  • Oh, and my fur? So silky your hands slips off of it when you pet me!
  • I have a crush on Tripper - I like guy cats who are "on the edge." Must be my feral upbringing!
  • Last, but not least - I am a formerly feral cat in the truest sense of the definition. I can tell you, having a forever home and staying inside...it's waaaaaaaay better than the freedom I had as a feral. I love my home and I love my life. AND - I love all of my bloggy friends.

Thanks for the tags kitties - and smooches to all of you!

A Terrific Tuesday Meme

My sweet and gentle friends, Caesar and Princess tagged me for a very cool meme. They were hoping it may take my mind off of moving. I think it might be just the ticket!
Here I go!
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Not a lot. I was not me yet.
What were you doing a year ago?
I was researching the benefits of sunny naps and deconstructing fake mousies.
5 Snacks I enjoy
Only 5? OK, the top 5 are HAM! Shrimp, Tuna, Feline Greenies and Temptations.
5 songs to which I know all the lyrics
Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch (Mommy sings it to me!)
The Hotel California by The Eagles
Roll Me Away by Bob Seger
Respect by Aretha Franklin
The Fish Heads Song by The Beatles (Daddy sings it to me!)
5 things you would do if you were a millionaire
Pay off all of the bills.
Open a low cost spay and neuter clinic.
Send Mommy and Daddy on a real vacation to Lake Tahoe.
Donate a lot of $ to Wayside Waifs.
Start a shrimp and catnip garden.
5 bad habits
I sneak attack my sisters and brothers from the top of my food table.
I eat like a little piggy - it's a formerly feral thing I guess.
I like to wait till Daddy is asleep then crawl on his head to nap.
I will give the D.O.G. the Paw of Death for no particular reason other than I like to do it.
I enjoy hiding my fake mousies in creative places.
5 things I enjoy doing
Eating. Too much.
Napping.
Playing with my Babble Ball and my fake mousies while stoned on catnip.
Looking out windows at the birds and squirrels.
Snuggles with Daddy or Mommy.
5 things I would never wear again
That horrid, awful tiara.
My tags with my Kansas City address on them. Sigh...
My fishie collar (Rudy wrecked it).
A shopping bag on my head. (Don't ask...)
5 favorite toys
My fake mousies.
My Babble Ball.
The feather wand.
Bugs!
Foam balls.
Now I get to tag 5 kitties to do this!
That was fun! Thanks for tagging me guys!
Smooches!

2. Favorite colors? I have two. Blue and Green - those are the color of my eyes!

4. Do you like dogs? Hmmmm...not as a steady diet. Diamond is OK, sometimes. But other dogs, NO!
5. Ever been in an airplane box? No, and I hope I never do. I might have to do that when we move.
6. Do you have to get bathed? No, no no no no no and no! I am quite capable of keeping my machine clean!
7. Are you in love? Yea, with tuna, shrimp, and fake mousies. I do have a disturbing attraction to him.
8. Where would you like to travel to? My food bowl.
9. What do you ignore? The silent pleas for mercy from my fake mousies.
10. How many lives have you used up? Being formerly feral, I fear I've used up 3 of my 9.
11. Do you have any dark secrets? Not any more, see # 7.
12. What is your favorite holiday? Any day that puts HAM! in my belly - so probably Easter.
13. Water or milk? Water is fine. The occasional sip of milk is a taste treat though! And don't get me going on ice cream!
14. Why do you blog? For the complete answer look here.
15. Are you into extremes? Heck yes! Extreme shrimp eating, extreme HAM! snarfing, extreme napping, extreme sunbathing...the "extremes" go on and on and on...
16. Favorite TV shows? I like to watch Meerkat Manor - I also enjoy whatever makes my folks sit on the couch for a while - then I get to snuggle!
17. Are you a pesty lap cat? Pesty?!? Moi?!? PFFFT!!! My lap advances are always welcomed by the 'rents!
18. Inside or outside cat? I am happy to announce that I am a safe, content, INDOOR cat. This was not always the case.
19. What makes you happy? A Lot! Lesse', there is the big three - Shrimp, HAM! and Tuna Juice, then there are fake mousies, Daddy and Mommy of course, sunny nap spots, the big human bed, my back porch, kitty treats like Temptations, the feather wand, the fireplace in cool weather, rubbing my face all over the 'rents hands, getting carried like a baby, my Gizzy quilt, bird and squirrel watching, getting pony rides from the D.O.G., catnip sprinkled on our kitty steps, foam balls, when Mommy drops food on the floor, clean litter boxes, a pile of clean clothes fresh out of the dryer, comments from my pals, seeing Mommy walk through the door, sneak attacking my siblings from way high up, finding a lost toy under the couch, getting a surprise snuggle from daddy, a little chunk of cheese every once in a while, my Daisy snuggle, big kitty stretches and yawns...as you see, there are many things that make this kitty very happy. The thing that makes me happiest? Easy, I have a forever home!
20. Your most embarrassing moment? When Daddy coaxed me into the apartment he was staying in, I had no idea what a door or window was. I also had no idea what furniture was. And, the concept of a litter box was pretty foreign to me - I had no idea why he kept putting me in this box with crystal things in it! All in all, I had a lot to learn. Thinking back on it it now kind of embarrassing!

True Confessions On a Tuesday

Being Perfectly Parker, This Is Hard!

I was tagged a few days ago for the True Confessions Meme. Wow, I had to think a lot to come up with any confessions. Such is the life of me!
  • I enjoy playing Kamikaze cat . I will drop down on my unsuspecting siblings and scare the fur off of them. I don't want to fight, I just want to freak 'em out!
  • When it's time to eat breakfast, I jockey with my siblings to get the best position by the bowls, I usually win, but Rudy gives me a run for my money!
  • I LOVE messing with Diamond, our D.O.G. I play a game I call the "Paw of Death." I'll raise one of my paws as if I'm going to whap him a good one, while meowing loudly at the same time. I rarely whap him, but he never knows...heehee!
  • I use my incredible charms to garner treats. Case in point, Daddy is napping on the sofa. I want a treat. I sit on his chest and tap, tap, tap on his face. When he opens his eyes, I give him my "high five" paw, which means "Daddy, may I have a treat?" He becomes so overwhelmed with my charms and cuteness that he gets up off his butt and gives me treats! (He's a sucker for me!)
  • I secretly enjoy it when Mommy and Daddy hold me on my back like a baby. If they rock me, I get all goofy and do my happy wiggle in their arms.
  • I rarely purr. If I do it is so soft you can hardly hear me.I act all big and bad, but I really am a love muffin!

I don't jump on counters, I can't kill any more plants (Mommy and Daddy gave up on inside plants a long time ago), I use my box perfectly, I rarely yak, I sleep all quiet and still next to Daddy and I don't scratch where I shouldn't. I am, Perfectly Parker!
