A Sad, Sad Story

What kind of "human" lets this happen?
Late in the afternoon after everyone had left the shelter for the day, the board president came back to the shelter to do some more work. These two puppies, plus another were found dumped and abandoned outside the receiving door. You can see every bone, they were covered in fleas and they were starving. I cannot tell you how sad this is. These poor guys were fed and given a flea bath. Please pray that they make a great recovery, our little shelter is determined to see that they get healthy and find awesome forever homes.
Mommy does not cry very often, but last night...she did.

A Lotta' Love...

Yesterday my 'rents took Diamond and helped raise money for an organization that helps feed animals of low-income seniors and helps to spay and neuter homeless pets. Diamond had a blast meeting all sorts of new friends and he was given a blessing by a very nice minister! The day was perfect for a walk in the park and the organization raised lots of green papers to carry on their great work. Win-win if you ask me!

Kenya

Back when we lived in Kansas City, Mommy volunteered at Wayside Waifs, Kansas City's largest humane society. The cat adoption area is where Mommy spent most of her time. Kenya is now there looking for a forever home and perhaps a chance at appearing on Biggest Loser!

Raise A Paw Contest

Gaius the Cat is having a wonderful contest. It is called Raise A Paw and when we read about it we decided that we all wanted to give it a try and enter. Well... three of us decided to enter. Powder refused to raise her paw no matter what we tried . She couldn't be coaxed, bribed or shamed into doing it. It isn't that she doesn't want to support a worthy cause, she's very shy. We love her anyway and we'll just try extra hard with our paws to make up for her refusal to perform for the camera. We chose Wayside Waifs for our special cause. Wayside Waifs is Kansas City's largest Humane Society and it helps thousands of homeless animals every year. Mommy was a volunteer there for a very long time and even though we live in O Hi O now, she still stays in touch with a lot of the wonderful people there. You can read about some of her experiences with Wayside Waifs here and here.

First we have Puff limbering up.
A 4-paw raise! Very impressive sis!
Here's her classic one-paw entry.
Rudy is confused about which paw to raise!
Oh! The front paw, OK.
Now...Gimme treat!
My photographer cuts my head out of the first shot.
Too much feather, not enough face!
Um, Mom, get your hand out of the shot!
Purrfect!

Easy Like Sunday - Anticipation

Aniticipation!
Have you met Gaius the cat yet? He and his beans are having a great contest to raise awareness about good causes. It is called Raise your Paw. The contest asks us to raise our paw for our particular good cause. I asked Mommy if I could enter because I would like to raise awareness about Wayside Waifs. Wayside is Kansas City's largest Humane Society and my Mommy volunteered there a lot when we lived in Kansas City. You can read a little about that here and here. Mommy still stays in touch with some of her friends who work and volunteer there and she is always wishing she would win the lottery or something so she could give them a squillion green papers and help them help all of the kitties and other animals who come to them when they have no where else to go.
I let Puff use the blog yesterday because I have been practicing my paw raise this weekend. I am pretty good at it because I already know how to "high five" for treats. The problem is our stupid camera. It is a cell phone camera and it isn't as fast as I am. I'm kind of glad that it is slow because it means I get a lot more treats when it screws up!
I have a question to ask you before I go off and practice some more. I have noticed that I have been getting some very strange rankings in the Top 100 Cat sites. I have been as high as 26 and as low as, well, I was off of the ranking last night and now I am at 80-something. Does anykitty know if their site is messed up? I'm thinking about just taking it off of my blog all together.
