If you have been reading my blog you may have noticed that our photos are, um, ah, AWFUL! Mommy would like to ask our pals on the internets what type of camera would be good for a middle aged, non-technical person who just wants to shoot great pics of her fur family. She's been using her phone camera till now, but knows that we deserve to be portrayed in a manner that becomes our true beauty! All suggestions would be welcomed. Our budget is modest, so please keep that in mind. Thank-you in advance. We really want to be able to show you our "true colors." We want them to "shine through!"
Smooches...Parker.

First, ADORAMA!!!! Got to Adorama.com and check them out. They sell new and refurb products. Anything from computers to cameras. Anything electronic. They have always done right by us!
Second, anything 5 megapixels and up is considered photo quality. You don't need something fancy to take good pictures. Walmart has a guide to buying digital cameras in their photo department. It's a simple but great guide and will help you pick what's right for you.
Third, if you don't plan to print your photos to photo paper, then a 3 megapixel camera should be fine. You can find good cameras at modest prices. I can't urge you enough to visit Adorama. Alan bought me a new 8 Megapixel Nikon camera for about $400.00 less than the retail price. It's FANTASTIC! And it came with all the goodies!
Have a Fabo Weekend my friend!
Mom has a Kodak Easy Share digital camera. It is really nice, has beautiful colors and is very easy to use. It has a section where you can pick automatic settings like the button shows a picture of a flower and that's what you choose for closeup shots or a button for the beach for beach or bright shots.
I recently saw someone's pictures they took in Providencials (check the trip advisor web site in the Provo forum) with their new Canon Digital Rebel and they came out awesome! Don't know about the ease of use but I may go out and buy that camera because of how nice her pics came out.
OH, Adorama sells their products at the best prices on the web. My camera was a display model and so was considered used. It was new and never used but the box was open. They really pride themselves on customer satisfaction. A lot of men in the Army buy from them. It's how we heard about them.
Oh yeah - go to dpreview.com they have lots of nice reviews of cameras. Dat's how we picked owr Kodak camera.
Eeeeeps! We just saw what the Canon digital rebel costs. Eeeeeps again! I don't finks we's gonna get dat one.
Canon cameras are great and very easy to use. :) Any of the Canon PowerShot cameras are low in price and very user-friendly. All of my photos are taken with an old Canon Powershot that only has 2 Megapixels, which is fine for posting anything on the web. It also takes video and all of my videos have been taken with it too.
Mommy sadly didn't know much about cameras...she's a point-and-click sort of gal. But she found that their Canon camera worked real well. She thinks any digital camera would be all right. The one she uses is 3.2 megapixels.
Well, Maw & Paw each just bought new Canon Powershot cameras. Maw's is the SD630 with 6 megapixels and Paw's is a little better and about $100 more. But Maw is a point and click person too and has found it pretty easy to use and she didn't even read the instructions yet. Now she needs to get Photoshop so she can get fancy schmancy.
Luf, Us
we have no camera advice but will be excited to see your "true colors"!
My first, and so far only, camera is a little Fujifilm FinePix 2650 with just 2 megapixels.
I'd love to get another, but finances say no. I'll be interested in the responses you get for future reference, in case the finances get better!
Mom has an Olympus Stylus. Its a point and shoot, but it has a zoom of optical 3X and 12X seamless (meaning it zooms electronically), and it can do about 20s of video (but the video isn't the best quality). Its 4 megapixel. Mom has had it a few years now, so Dad thinks the newer models are higher pixel and better quality, but still very easy to use. We paid about $400 for it.
Tara
my human just bought a fuji camera with 7 pixels or something she doesn't really know how to work it properly and she is too lazy to read the instructions. She just wants to play sims! lol
Mom has two cameras. One is good, one not so good.
The Bad: Nikon Coolix 5600. Takes great pictures outside. But inside too many red-eye issues. Plus, it doesn't shoot quick enough for animals.
The Great: Nikon D50 with a 18-55 lens. This is a great camera, and with the website that Oscar told you about, you could get one for a reasonable price. The 18-55 is all you need for inside. It is a VERY quick shoot, meaning that you can easily shoot 200 photos in 15 minutes, then pick the ones you like best. You can also shoot RAW photos which are great!!! The pixels are high enough to crop just about anyway you want. Plus, it has a rechargable battery, which is great plus, because you won't be spending a fortune in batteries.
P.S. Sorry, the Simply Scuba was us...Mom forgot to sign out of that account.
Us, Meezers
Mom says that 3.2 megapizels is more than enuff if you're just gonna put pikshurs on the web. And if you don't haf a grate printer, it's more than enuf for printing pikshurs at home too. (She still uses a 3.2 Olympus 740C to take all her joolry pikshurs on her website and it does GRATE!) The whole megapizels thing is a marketing gimmick for the most part, since most folks don't have the need for super high quality photos like a film camera does. (A film camera is still best for those.)
And Parker, I answered your question about playing troll in my comments in case any other cat wants to know.
Purrrrrrrs,
Gree
DKM uses a Nikon Coolpix S6
Lots of advice here for your mommie Parker.
We have THREE cameras all of them are nice. You must decide if you want batteries to change or to charge the thing. We have two battery cameras and the oldest one requires charging.
I have tried them all. You probably want one that takes nice closeups as well as the regular shots.
mommie has a Panasonic Lumix, a Canon Powershot A430 and the oldest one the Sony cybershot. No mommie is not a camera freak, daddie likes to buy toys toys toys...
Good luck sweeetie friend and happy week-end
Furst of all, yer fotos mite be fuzzy but have no dowbt that show off how wondurful yoo two are!
Secondlie, we have no reel suggestions cause we don't like flashy things but we like having fotos on owr blog...hmmmmm...
Hope yoo find a grate one soon!
Momma has a Panasonic LS70 Lumix camera, and she loves it. It's got lotsa features, an easy zoom lens, and can take pics up to 7 megapixels, but Momma usually keeps it at 3.5 'cause 7 megapixel pictures are like really huge in size. There's all kinda cool modes on the Lumix, too, easy-to-navigate menus, and it's very affordable.
Good luck findin' a neat-o camera! Kittyhugs and purrs from MaoMao.
Mum has a Pentax Optio that is about 3 years old. All of the pictures on my blog are taken with it. Simple to use, point and shoot with a simple zoom. Can do close ups too for flowers. It is small enough to easily fit in a pocket.
well, mama just did camera research before buying her new camera. she didn't get the one she wanted--it was about $50 outside of the budget. the one she wanted was a panasonic dmc tz1. it's a great camera with all sorts of easy to use features.
what she got was a kodak easy share c743. it's 7.1 pixel, 3x optical zoom.
optical zoom is one of the most important things because it's the REAL zoom. digital zoom can lead to visible graininess.
kodak is super easy to use. mama loves how she can use the usb to plug it in to the computer and the pictures download automatically.
mama got the kodak for less than $130, and then a 2 g memory card.
the panasonic is available at costco.com for $200. mama wishes she had done that...but she was impatient!
hope that helps!
love

My Daddy uses the Kodak Easy Share and he really likes it. It has 5 megapixels and lots of things to adjust if you want, or you can set it to automatic and point and click. My Mom doesn't like having to adjust anything so she just uses an older Samsung digital but she doesn't think she gets very good pix from it. I'll have her check Adorama to see if she can get a better camera too!
Okay we did alot of looking up when we got a new digtail camrama you should get a camra wiff a high mexpixaliz the best brand out there that is raited the highest my conmomers reports it some We got a power shot we had 3 of them since they came out magzine grandmpa luves is the cannon

According to Karen (the woman who I allow to live with me), who has worked in publishing, she says the higher megapixel camera you have the better quality pictures you will get. She has a Cannon Rebel with nine megapixels, but you really don't need that high of a calibur camera for your purposes. If you get something better than three megapixels you should be OK unless you plan to take a lot of action shots. Then go with a least an eight.
Anyway, she also said to watch the ads. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and Wal Mart run sales very regularly.
All of this information and the only picture on my web site is of wretched Sadie sitting in front of a window, which stupid Karen took with her phone.

We use a Canon Power Shot A520 and think it is very good. Higher pixels mean more clear photos but also mean more camera shake.(blurry photos).
Look for something with both an optical and digital zoom. We hope this helps.
