A Few Words From the 'Rents - New Beginnings

Get a beverage of your choice, this is a long one...
Me at the HSoAC circa 2012- my home away from home and my heart. I'm lovin' on Meowser, he got adopted into a great home after a year at the shelter.
The first photo I took of our home in O Hi O to share with hubby back in Kansas City.
Our last day in Kansas City - July 2007, you can read all about that day here.

So many things have happened over the last few months, but the most significant change is that we have decided to follow our hearts and move back to Kansas City Missouri! O Hi O has been a great experience, many happy memories and some sad ones as well, but the time is right to start again in the land of BBQ, great activities, great people and Wayside Waifs!
The Hardest Part of Leaving? Right Here...

I have been honored to be a part of this great organization for the last two and a half years. It's going to break my heart to say good-bye when I walk out of the doors for the last time. If you ever want to see the meaning of dedication in action, spend a day there with the staff and volunteers. It will blow you away. They live the mission every day, and the animals that find their way into the shelter are treated with love and respect. If you have to be a shelter animal, this is where you want to be waiting for your forever home!

So, looking back, what's happened with us over the last seven years?
Here's the happy stuff -

The reason we moved, my job at this great hospital.

Ricky-Tiki Tavi - the first photo of him, he literally just showed up on our front porch.

He may be deaf, but that doesn't slow him down or make him any less a gorgeous house panther!

Fletcher - the first photo of him with his very happy Dad.

A few months later - Kharma Kitty. Helping fill a Parker sized hole in our hearts.

Lookit' that face! She is so awesome and loving. We know Parker Pie had a paw in this choice!

Christmas in the big house is always a treat. Parker loved the tree!

It was a joy living here!

The warmer weather was a joy as well.

Not everything was happy in our lives - we suffered some great losses. Heartbreaking ones.
We lost our beloved Parker on May 24th, 2012. It's a loss that still stings.

World famous for her smoochies, she left a hole in our hearts.

A year later, Diamond Doggie decided to join Parker at the Bridge. Another devastating loss so soon after Parker. He was such a good dog and loved us unconditionally for over 11 years.
Who was a good boy? You were Diamond.

May 1st, 2002 - May 31st, 2013. Always faithful, forever loved.

But this guy needed a home.

And he fits in perfectly!

So my friends, we begin another chapter in our lives. Back to a familiar city, back to friends and family that we have missed very much. 2014 will be a year of changes, Hopefully more good ones than bad. We'll celebrate one last holiday here in O Hi O then strike out with our furry family to KC. Please wish us luck. We'll still be here on the "internets" - just a little further west.

I have one favor to ask of you. If you can find it in your heart to send a small donation to our little shelter here in Ohio, please click here and donate. Please tell them it's for helping Fletcher and Kharma find their forever homes with Parker's family. They really need the help - and remember - it's good Kharma!

Smoochies from all of us - The 'rents, Puff, Powder, Rudy, Ricky-Tiki-Tavi, Fletcher and Kharma.

And, Puff, Powder and Rudy want you to know that they are all doing fine and look forward to going back to KC and show the new kids the ropes out there.

Yup - we do!

Updating From The Roasterie - Our V.E.T. Visit

Mommy here - No "innernet" is awful. We have a weak signal at our home, but it takes a "squillion" years to go from page to page, we read your blogs, but no commenting. I took Parker and her sibs to the V.E.T. Friday for their last wellness checks and to be evaluated for medications to travel. Since the drive is so long the decision was made to use medication. We are using a combination of a sedative and a pain killer. It's given via liquid through a syringe toward the cheek so it is absorbed by swallowing and through the tissue in the mouth. The sedative lasts about 6 hours and then the pain killer provides a calming effect for an additional 4-6 hours. By then we should be at our destination.
Parker asked that I show them being tortured Friday. Who am I to refuse?
Here's the best kitty vet clinic in the world.

Waiting for the doctor.
Not happy, not happy at all.

Rudy wants everyone to know he does not at all mind being in a PINK P.T.U.

Puff is not amused. Not even a little bit.

She's even less amused getting her Fpl/Uri Intranasal Vaccine

Parker is getting skritchies here, she's really having fun, not the least bit upset - she bounced out of the P.T.U. and started to flirt with everyone!
All four kids are healthy and fine. AND they have all dropped a little weight, the diet is working! They are a little un-nerved at all of the activity in the house. We will be fine - and Henry Helton, we're gonna be neighbors! Exit 83 off of I-75 is VERY close to where we will be living in O Hi O!
I don't think any of the kitties will be waving at you though, I think they will be taking some serious cat naps!
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We'll see you later, now back to our chaos that is currently in progress.

Another Peek At The O Hi O Homestead

Here's the back of our new home. It has a cool deck on the 2nd floor!

There are 19(!) steps to play thundering herd of elephants up and down!
Oh, and here's Mommy as a Simpson's Character! (Hee!)

Things We'll Miss About Our Home In KC Part One Million

We know the floor is icky on the back porch, but we love it out here. And no, Puff isn't laying by yak, it's the shrimpy crack treats! We are all nipped out here. We'll miss this porch. But...

I think we'll like this fireplace in our new home!

Mommy needs a good camera - she wants to show all of you more photos of our new home. She keeps telling us how much we will love it. She says we will have so much room that we can go for days and not even see each other if we want to. That sounds like a big house to me! This fireplace is in the living room. There are two others in the house. I like that part!

I Want To Show You What A Peach Miss Peach Is!

Miss Peach sent me a package! She sent me a lizard 'cause I never saw a lizard in real life before! I was very excited!

I stood guard over it till Mommy came home!

Holy Cat! Lookit' all the cool stuff that was in it! A LIZARD! A CUTE ONE!
WOW! WOW! WOW!
There was a very pretty card too!

And a beautiful necklace for Mommy! Mommy says she got lots of compliments on it already! (She wore it to a party on Saturday night!)
Gimme Lizard!

Fun! I am going to eat it!

You can't eat this one Sweetie! <----Mommy

Rats, but I can play with my new squiggle?

The newest look in fall cat fashion - the lizard hat! Mommy ---> (We had to steady Parker 'cause she really wanted to eat the lizard!) I would like to thank Miss Peach for the great gifts! Me and my lizard and squiggle are having a ball!

A Sunday Interview With Me and My Siblings

Interviewer: "Parker, tell us your true feelings about the upcoming move to Ohio."
Parker: "It's no secret that I like my home. My first choice would be to stay right here and have Mommy be here all the time. Since I have been informed that this is not an option, I am going to be all Zen and go with the flow. As long as I can take my toys and we will all be together, I'm O.K. with it. The actual move? In the car? I doubt I'm going to be Zen about that. That's all I have to say about that.
Interviewer: "Puff, any thoughts?"
Puff: "Our last move was a long time ago, I can't remember a lot about it. I hear there are sunny napping spots and many windows at our new home. I like that. I do worry that there will be vishus deer in O Hi O. I am requesting that the 'rents get some vishus deer repellent to keep me and my gorgeous booty safe. I am already planning the exact placement of scratches on Mommy's body as she places me in the P.T.U. That part of the actual move brings me joy."

Interviewer: Powder, being the tiniest member of the family, how will you handle the move?"
Powder: "Why does everyone point out my size? I'm just as capable of inflicting injury on Mommy as any other cat in this household. I am small but mighty! I plan on handling the move like I handled the last one - poorly. I will hide when it's time to leave and delay the actual move for hours while they try to find me, then I will howl for the entire trip. Upon release in the new home I will once again hide and not be seen for days, causing great worry and concern. The 'rents will try to keep this from happening by confining me to one room. I promise it won't matter, my skill for becoming invisible to the human eye is unrivaled. I will re-appear when I am good and ready." Interviewer: "Rudy, what about you? How are you preparing for the move?"
Rudy: "Well, I'm doing a couple of things. First of all I am showing my displeasure about the move by attacking Parker. Although that's getting a little old and I have moved on to daily claw sharpening on the scratching posts (better to leave scars with when they stuff me into the P.T.U.), and staying limber by doing yoga stretches and running like a big elephant all over the house. I also do daily meditations in the sun. I'm ready to go - adventure is my middle name."

Interviewer: "Diamond, any last thoughts on the move to O Hi O?"

Diamond: "Huh? What? Is it time for dinner?" "Go for ride in car? " "What?"
