The Abbreviated Story of Our Move To O Hi O

We have lived in O Hi O for 5 weeks now. Time really skates along and before you know it you are listening to your Mommy complain about how awful her photo looks on her new O Hi O driver's license and how she can't find a decent cut of meat (we were from Kansas City after all)! Aside from the meat issue and having to ship our Tidy Cat crystals from PetSmart, O Hi O is quite nice. We are unpacked and enjoying the new home, finding new nappy spots, watching the outdoors from our new windows and just generally being happy. Rudy isn't as rude and he hasn't put the bitey on me since we have been here. I miss some of my friends from KC - there were some woofies I liked to watch walk by and I had some squirrel buddies that would hang out in the back yard that I could chitter to from my beloved back porch. I also miss getting little bites of KC BBQ. Other than that, home is here. I have new squirrel friends (they are black here - so good looking!), new birds to look at from the feeder and lots of other interesting stuff. And of course there is the upstairs deck where I can be OUTSIDE and the 19 stairs that are perfect for Thundering Herds of Elephants at dark early o'clock! In the winter I will have 2 fireplaces to choose from for warm naps and the big kitchen that has my special anti-getting-stepped-on snoopervising spot. Yup, it's all good.
So, here is the story of the last week of July, or as Mommy calls it the week from H E double hockey sticks!

Here I am guarding the stereo before the packers packed it.

Payton's Memorial and empty pots waiting to be packed

Rudy amidst the choas
Mommy and Daddy have one last evening at the Brooksider -see that awful O Hi O state flag hanging up there? It really bugged Mommy.

The moving van arrived. (Don't tell Mommy I told you this, but she broke down and sobbed when it pulled up. She said that's when it really hit her.)

It was a huge truck and by now we kitties were locked in a spare bedroom with no furniture - just our food and water and litter box. We were a little freaked out!

All loaded and ready to take ALL OUR STUFF! Even my toys!

Bye-Bye! Please take care of my toys! (Mommy sobbed again)
This doesn't look good, not at all...

On our way, Diamond is having a blast. Us, not so much, we are behind him all passed out in our PTU'S. (Thank goodness for drugs!) It was the hottest day of the year and even with the AC on full blast, Mommy and Daddy were constanly checking on us to make sure we were OK. They had to keep moving our PTU's because of the location of the sun. It took 11 1/2 hours and about 5 years off of Mommy and Daddy's life!
"Hey Pop, can we stop at McDonald's for a burger?"

Glad you all made it there safely. BTW, you can tell your Mommy that I also love the Brooksider. They have the best BLT's.

I for one am glad that you came to Ohio. It's a nice place to be. My Lady doesn't, she says that KC would have had to been a way more fun place to live. They have lots more stuff to do.

Wow what an incredible journey but you did it and you're all safe and happy. I like the sound of the black squirrels. London squirrels are all grey even though they are cute. FAZ

Moving sure is a big adventure! Does Payton's Memorial have a special spot yet?

I am glad that your move went well Parker. My mommy and I just moved to California. I spent 4 days in the car. I couldn't wait to get out. I think you had the right idea about sleeping the whole way. I am glad that you are liking O HI O. 19 stairs must be super fun.

Hi Parker! I am glad you and the other kitties, the woofie and your people all got to Ohio in good shape. Moving is hard for pets and people alike. You will be able to help each other adjust to your new spot. You will all make new friends and find new spots to hang out and enjoy. My Food Lady lived in Michigan for a long time, and also in Columbus too. There are many beautiful places there. Also the Great Lakes. Probably not a place for you to visit, but the people and the woofie will like it. Have fun in the snow.

I did not know that you had a woofie sibling, he sure does look wistful about that McD burger!

We are glad your move went well and that you are enjoying your new place. Beware those lil black squirrels tho. They are audacious and will lecture if they think you've offended them the least bit!! At least, that's what Casey says.

My mommy felt for your mommy...when she moved from her place, it didn't really hit her until the house was empty and she walked around the rooms, taking pictures for da last time. That was when she cried.

Anyways, have a good week!

We are hoping you are liking living in Ohio. Sorry you don't like our flag. Mommy & Daddy got to go see the Buckeyes beat Akron yesterday. They got to sit way up in the sky. Not the best game, but still a win. Did we see somewhere that your Mommy actually roots for that team up north?

Oh parker, I am glad you survived your trip. How come the woofie gets a seat to himself? Hardly fair.

Parker the squirrels in Germany are red and have little tuffts of fur on their ears that look like horns:))
SO glad you are settled in to your O HI O homestead. Your mommy can enjoy being so close to her works and that makes her happy to be home so soon to feed you all your stinky goodness:)

You are amazing, if I were you, I can't stand in Moving.

I was moving before once.
And, michico and family members do the moving first decorate my new bed first, then, put me to the new house.

Certainly the place I stay is crowded city, so, not just like you need to stay in car so long, I have a serious car sick. So I must say you are amazing again.

Really~!

I'm glad to hear that you are settling into your new home, and that you survived the trip. It sounds like it was quite the move! I'm not looking forward to having to move across the ocean in Summer 2009 when we get posted back to Canada.

Sorry you can't find a decent cut of meat there in O Hi O. We can't believe that you let the movers take your toys? You didn't take them in the car with you? OMG!!!

Good thing they arrived safely after all.
