Out With The Old...

...and in with the new!
We bid a fond farewell to our old guest bed. I gave it a smooch!
Rudy just wanted one last nap on it!

Photo Hunters - Road

When I saw that this week's Photo Hunters theme was Road, it made me remember our move from Kansas City to O Hi O. It was a big adventure for us that we did not care for very much...
Here are the movers packing up my toys.

And here's Diamond in the back seat saying "Bye-bye Kansas City!"
We were in the back, drugged and stuffed in our PTU's, yeah...good times...

The Abbreviated Story of Our Move To O Hi O

We have lived in O Hi O for 5 weeks now. Time really skates along and before you know it you are listening to your Mommy complain about how awful her photo looks on her new O Hi O driver's license and how she can't find a decent cut of meat (we were from Kansas City after all)! Aside from the meat issue and having to ship our Tidy Cat crystals from PetSmart, O Hi O is quite nice. We are unpacked and enjoying the new home, finding new nappy spots, watching the outdoors from our new windows and just generally being happy. Rudy isn't as rude and he hasn't put the bitey on me since we have been here. I miss some of my friends from KC - there were some woofies I liked to watch walk by and I had some squirrel buddies that would hang out in the back yard that I could chitter to from my beloved back porch. I also miss getting little bites of KC BBQ. Other than that, home is here. I have new squirrel friends (they are black here - so good looking!), new birds to look at from the feeder and lots of other interesting stuff. And of course there is the upstairs deck where I can be OUTSIDE and the 19 stairs that are perfect for Thundering Herds of Elephants at dark early o'clock! In the winter I will have 2 fireplaces to choose from for warm naps and the big kitchen that has my special anti-getting-stepped-on snoopervising spot. Yup, it's all good.
So, here is the story of the last week of July, or as Mommy calls it the week from H E double hockey sticks!

Here I am guarding the stereo before the packers packed it.

Payton's Memorial and empty pots waiting to be packed

Mommy and Daddy have one last evening at the Brooksider -see that awful O Hi O state flag hanging up there? It really bugged Mommy.

The moving van arrived. (Don't tell Mommy I told you this, but she broke down and sobbed when it pulled up. She said that's when it really hit her.)

It was a huge truck and by now we kitties were locked in a spare bedroom with no furniture - just our food and water and litter box. We were a little freaked out!

All loaded and ready to take ALL OUR STUFF! Even my toys!

Bye-Bye! Please take care of my toys! (Mommy sobbed again)
This doesn't look good, not at all...

On our way, Diamond is having a blast. Us, not so much, we are behind him all passed out in our PTU'S. (Thank goodness for drugs!) It was the hottest day of the year and even with the AC on full blast, Mommy and Daddy were constanly checking on us to make sure we were OK. They had to keep moving our PTU's because of the location of the sun. It took 11 1/2 hours and about 5 years off of Mommy and Daddy's life!
"Hey Pop, can we stop at McDonald's for a burger?"

Life In O Hi O So Far

Hi Everykitty! Have you missed me?
This is the back of our new home. It has a deck on the 2nd floor. I hope I can go on the deck (supervised) and enjoy the fresh air. (Mommy took this picture last month).
There are a lot of nice things about O Hi O. They have birds here. I've been watching them from a little apartment we are staying at until our stuff gets here. The movers gave us a NINE day window for their arrival and now it looks as though it might be Tuesday before my toys are back with me. That's a lot of sleeps away. We have made the most of it by playing with balls that Mommy made for us from aluminum foil. It's fun. Kinda.
Mommy had to go back to where she hunts today so Daddy started moving some little things from the apartment to our house. We haven't been there yet.
Our drive was long and it was very hot outside. Mommy spent the entire drive stressing about us being too hot. She kept adjusting our kennels to keep us out of the sunlight. We were fine, the air conditioning kept us cool. Plus the drugs made us sleep a lot. Diamond Doggy sat in his seat and watched all of the scenery. He seemed to enjoy the big adventure. Us, not so much...
We have photos, but can't post them till Mommy figures out how to change her e-mail on her phone. She's technologically challenged.
I'll tell you more when I can. With all of the moving I am having a hard time getting Mommy to help me with my blog. I wish she'd get her priorities (ME!) in order. We're fine - one more ride in our P.T.U.'s to our new home and that will be it for my traveling adventures - hopefully for a long, long time!

Updating From The Roasterie - Our V.E.T. Visit

Mommy here - No "innernet" is awful. We have a weak signal at our home, but it takes a "squillion" years to go from page to page, we read your blogs, but no commenting. I took Parker and her sibs to the V.E.T. Friday for their last wellness checks and to be evaluated for medications to travel. Since the drive is so long the decision was made to use medication. We are using a combination of a sedative and a pain killer. It's given via liquid through a syringe toward the cheek so it is absorbed by swallowing and through the tissue in the mouth. The sedative lasts about 6 hours and then the pain killer provides a calming effect for an additional 4-6 hours. By then we should be at our destination.
Parker asked that I show them being tortured Friday. Who am I to refuse?
Here's the best kitty vet clinic in the world.

Waiting for the doctor.
Not happy, not happy at all.

Rudy wants everyone to know he does not at all mind being in a PINK P.T.U.

Puff is not amused. Not even a little bit.

She's even less amused getting her Fpl/Uri Intranasal Vaccine

Parker is getting skritchies here, she's really having fun, not the least bit upset - she bounced out of the P.T.U. and started to flirt with everyone!
All four kids are healthy and fine. AND they have all dropped a little weight, the diet is working! They are a little un-nerved at all of the activity in the house. We will be fine - and Henry Helton, we're gonna be neighbors! Exit 83 off of I-75 is VERY close to where we will be living in O Hi O!
I don't think any of the kitties will be waving at you though, I think they will be taking some serious cat naps!
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We'll see you later, now back to our chaos that is currently in progress.

Things We'll Miss About Our Home In KC Part One Million

We know the floor is icky on the back porch, but we love it out here. And no, Puff isn't laying by yak, it's the shrimpy crack treats! We are all nipped out here. We'll miss this porch. But...

I think we'll like this fireplace in our new home!

Mommy needs a good camera - she wants to show all of you more photos of our new home. She keeps telling us how much we will love it. She says we will have so much room that we can go for days and not even see each other if we want to. That sounds like a big house to me! This fireplace is in the living room. There are two others in the house. I like that part!

A Sunday Interview With Me and My Siblings

Interviewer: "Parker, tell us your true feelings about the upcoming move to Ohio."
Parker: "It's no secret that I like my home. My first choice would be to stay right here and have Mommy be here all the time. Since I have been informed that this is not an option, I am going to be all Zen and go with the flow. As long as I can take my toys and we will all be together, I'm O.K. with it. The actual move? In the car? I doubt I'm going to be Zen about that. That's all I have to say about that.
Interviewer: "Puff, any thoughts?"
Puff: "Our last move was a long time ago, I can't remember a lot about it. I hear there are sunny napping spots and many windows at our new home. I like that. I do worry that there will be vishus deer in O Hi O. I am requesting that the 'rents get some vishus deer repellent to keep me and my gorgeous booty safe. I am already planning the exact placement of scratches on Mommy's body as she places me in the P.T.U. That part of the actual move brings me joy."

Interviewer: Powder, being the tiniest member of the family, how will you handle the move?"
Powder: "Why does everyone point out my size? I'm just as capable of inflicting injury on Mommy as any other cat in this household. I am small but mighty! I plan on handling the move like I handled the last one - poorly. I will hide when it's time to leave and delay the actual move for hours while they try to find me, then I will howl for the entire trip. Upon release in the new home I will once again hide and not be seen for days, causing great worry and concern. The 'rents will try to keep this from happening by confining me to one room. I promise it won't matter, my skill for becoming invisible to the human eye is unrivaled. I will re-appear when I am good and ready." Interviewer: "Rudy, what about you? How are you preparing for the move?"
Rudy: "Well, I'm doing a couple of things. First of all I am showing my displeasure about the move by attacking Parker. Although that's getting a little old and I have moved on to daily claw sharpening on the scratching posts (better to leave scars with when they stuff me into the P.T.U.), and staying limber by doing yoga stretches and running like a big elephant all over the house. I also do daily meditations in the sun. I'm ready to go - adventure is my middle name."

Interviewer: "Diamond, any last thoughts on the move to O Hi O?"

Diamond: "Huh? What? Is it time for dinner?" "Go for ride in car? " "What?"

The Collar Is Off. I Have Another BooBoo From My Brother.

Do I look like something to bite?
I need a hug Mommy!
I like wearing my collar. It is pretty and it has my shiny I.D. tag on it in case I escape and get lost. My stupid brother Rudy started to play rough with me yesterday and bit me! HE BIT ME!!! On my neck! Hard! Now I have a little BooBoo and have to have yukky medicine I don't like it at all. You can hardly see it, but it is there. Mommy and Daddy have started to pack some things for our move to O Hi O and they think that it is starting to give us some stress. They are going to leave the rest of the packing to the movers and see if we calm down. AND we all have to go and get one last wellness check from the evil V.E.T. this month. Mommy hates that we won't have this V.E.T. anymore because she specializes in felines and is one of the best V.E.T.s in the United States. We, on the other hand, are not as impressed as she is! We have gone to her for many years, she has always been nice to us, but she sticks things where she shouldn't and steals blood from us. Dr.Sundahl will miss us and our green papers. Mommy says we have financed a couple of good vacations for her family!
I'm going to try and relax today. We have one more day of Mommy being here and we intend on making the most of it.
Peace to all of you kitties and remember, it's not nice to put the bitey on your siblings!

Thursday 13 Edition 6 - 13 Thoughts That Wake Me and Mommy Up In The Middle Of The Night About Moving To O Hi O

Daddy, I can't sleep! That's OK Parker, Mommy and me can't sleep either...

Parker goes first...

  • What if O Hi O if full of Vishus Deer? We don't have them in Kansas City
  • Do I have to get stuffed in the horrible P.T.U. and ride in the evil car?OR do I get stuffed in the horrible P.T.U. and ride in the evil cat AND have to fly in a terrible silver tube? (either way is a nightmare!!!)
  • Are Mommy and Daddy going to make me take mind and mood altering drugs for the trip?
  • Do I still get to blog?
  • What about all my toys? Do they get to come too???
  • Can we take my fireplace with us?
  • Can we take my back porch with us?\Do they have Fancy Feast in O Hi O?
  • Are there other cats in O Hi O?
  • Are there sunny spots to nap in in O Hi O?
  • What about Shrimps and HAM!?!?!
  • Do we have to take the D.O.G.?

Mommy next...

  • Where are we going to live??? I have 9 weeks to find a place!!!
  • How ARE we going to move our "kids" with the least amount of stress on them?
  • How did we accumulate so much stuff?
  • How come we are moving on the busiest moving weekend of the year?
  • What are the odds of winning the lottery in the next 9 weeks?
  • No more volunteering at Wayside Waifs! AAAUUUGGGHHH!
  • Oh, wait, there's a shelter in O Hi O - whew...
  • All of our friends are in K.C., we have no one to play with in O Hi O!
  • How will the "kids" adjust to a new house?
  • Will Parker accept a new home if I can't find one with a fireplace?
  • Or a back porch?
  • There are vishus deer in O Hi O!
  • Can I get my husband to meet Bob?

And finally, a thought from Diamond -

Duh, do I gotta' give 'em pony rides in O Hi O?
