Sweet Praline September 25, 1995 ~ April 25th, 2011 We lost a very dear friend yesterday. Sweet Praline acheived angel status at the Rainbow Bridge. Praline was such a beautiful kitty that had a loving and devoted Mommy. I know that her Mommy must feel all kinds of sad and heartbroken over the loss of such a special kitty. We send her our love and we hope that soon her memories of Sweet Praline will make her smile more than they make her cry. In honor of Miss Sweet Praline - Where to Bury A Cat There are various places within which a cat may be buried. We are thinking now of a tabby cat, a striped cat, whose coat was like watered silk, and who, so far as we are aware, never entertained a mean or an unworthy thought. This cat is buried beneath a cherry tree, under four feet of garden loam, and at its proper season the cherry strews petals on the green lawn of his grave. Beneath a cherry tree, or an apple, or any flowering shrub of the garden, is an excellent place to bury a good cat. For beneath such trees, such shrubs, he slept in the drowsy summer, or chased bees, or lifted head to challenge some winged intruder. These are good places, in life or in death. For if the cat be well remembered, if sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, questing, asking, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where that cat sleeps at long and at last. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in kittenhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a pasture land, where the most exhilarating moles burrow. It is all one to the cat, and all one to you, and nothing is gained, and nothing lost -- if memory lives. But there is one best place to bury a cat. One place that is best of all. If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have guessed, he will come to you when you call -- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living cats, they shall not hiss at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and he belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no mew pitched too fine for mere audition, people who may never really have had a cat. Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth the knowing. The one best place to bury a good cat is in the heart of his owner. by Ben Hur Lampman, Portland Oregonian, 1921 Godspeed Sweet Praline, you were loved so very, very much... |

A Rudy Update
This is my worried look...
Hey guys, Parker here. Thought I would let you know that my bro - aka the Orange Menace is hanging out with Dr. Joe. He's been there since yesterday morning. And to be honest with you - I sort of miss him. He's easy to blame for stuff and while he's in the joint I have no patsy to pin things on. So, yes, I am worried and yes, I miss him. There - I said it - now you all have evidence. And, I am sure that I will live to regret ever admitting that...
...Anywho - The Rudster is stumping Dr. Joe and Dr. Wendy. He's got no lumps and bumps, he uses the box, his labs are perfect...so is his temp. I guess there are more diagnostics in his furry little future. If they get everything done by close of business tomorrow, he'll get to return to casa de Perfectly Parker in time to help destroy trim the tree that's going to be coming inside (see why I need him back here?!? A TREE! - INSIDE! I really need a patsy!)
Good thoughts are appreciated. We want to thank everyone who left such sweet comments yesterday. Opinions and ideas are welcomed. Mommy is all over the internets trying to figure out what might be going on and she and Daddy aren't a lot of fun right now. So, my job is to try to get them to relax just a little. I have laps to fill and love eyes to make. Take care kitties, we'll update when and if we learn more.

Today The Floof Goes Poof!
Hi kitties, Parker here on behalf of the Rudester. This morning Rudy gets stuffed into the PTU and goes to see Tiffany the very nice groomer. We all had our food and water taken away before we went to bed last night just in case they have to sedate Rudy. Tiffany works out of Diamond's VET hospital - Dr. Babbit will monitor him if it comes to that.
Since Rudy is going to be 11 years old next month he is considered a geriatric kitty and sedation is always a concern. The good news is that Rudy is very healthy and should be fine if he has to be sedated. But we still worry. As much as I don't care for his orange menace pesky ways, I still want him to be OK and come back smelling all sweet and having his mats gone. Mommy won't relax until she hears he's ready to come home.
Please think good thoughts for our big orange creamsicle - life in O Hi O is always exciting with him in the picture!

Saturday Caturday
Mommy says that she has a very long list and a bad case of the 'busys' today. And Daddy is taking all of our decorations down! Our tree is being taken outside! SOB! I was enjoying the last few weeks, I was giving Mommy relaxation lessons on the couch and now all of my hard work seems to be forgotten.
I wonder how many of you kitties are noticing the same thing - You just get the 'rents all trained and relaxed and the next thing you know they've forgotten everything you have taught them!
ps - our purrs and prayers are going to Bobbie she is very ill - please get well soon!

Thankful Thursday
Hi there, Powder here to tell you why today is thankful Thursday for me and my family here in O Hi O. Last week we were all very worried because Mommy had to have her insides checked to make sure that she was healthy. Everyone was so kind, sending purrs and prayers that she would be OK. You know what kitties? She is! We got the great news that everything is OK. We are so thankful that Mommy is B-9! W00-Hoo!

Easy Like Sunday - Prayers
Today is a sad, grey and cold day. Today we pray for Miral who left for the Bridge. We pray that Mu Shue, Lilly Lu an Baby Iris did escape the fire and that they are in the woods. We pray that Mom Laura finds strength and has hope.
Today we send our love to all kitties in need.
By Albert Schweitzer
Hear our humble prayer, O God,
for our friends, the animals,
especially for those who are suffering;
for any that are lost or deserted,
or frightened or hungry.
We entreat for them all
We entreat for them all
Thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them,
we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves,
Make us, ourselves,
to be true friends to animals
and so to share
the blessings of the merciful.
