Stupid Suitcase, Stupid Job!

I knew something was up this morning when Mommy got the big suitcase from her closet. That's never a good sign. Then she told me that she had to leave in a few sleeps for a long time. Her job is taking her to a place called O Hi O. She'll be doing in-ter-um work for a hospital. Mommy says they really need her there and that she couldn't say no. Well WHAT ABOUT US?!? We need Mommy too! She said that Daddy does a good job of taking care of us and that we will be fine. I don't like this one little bit! She knows the special way to fix our food and she picks us up and rocks us and she gives extra treats and lets us out on the porch all of the time and she's really a good litter box cleaner and she knows all the special skritchy spots on me and she, well, she's my MOMMY! I don't know where O Hi O is, but they are stealing my Mommy and I don't want her to go! She has traveled lots and lots for her job, but mostly just for a few nights then she comes home from up in the air in a silver tube thingy and all is well with my world. But she says this time will be different. She'll be gone for 10 days at a time. I can't even count how high ten days must be! And how am I gonna blog? I have no thumbs and she's a much better speller than me!
Mommy says it's going to all be OK and that I have to trust her. She says she can still blog for me and Daddy will keep her up to date on my life. I guess I have to trust her, she hasn't ever told me a lie ('cept that time I went to the vet and got spayed, she said we were going to the park...yeah, park my tail!)
So that's my sad news. My brothers and sisters are quite upset as well. Poor little Powder will be the worst. She'll probably hide under the bed all of the time. That's what she does when she gets unhappy.
Do any of you cool kitties have Mommies or Daddies that travel? If so, what do you do while they are gone? Is it really gonna' be OK like Mommy says?
Mommy here - It's all good, Daddy has my back and Parker and the rest of the gang will be fine! This may last 2-3 months, but Daddy will send photos and give me lots of stories about Parker's daily doings!

Ohhhhhh Parker. How could your mom look at that you in that picture and still leave. Your eyes are just begging her to stay.
Owr mom is home with us all day so we are some of the lucky ones.
Our first mom however, took a job that would make her go overseas for 2-3 months at a time. SHe didn't want to board us or get a cat sitter because she felt it wasn't fair to us, so that is how we came to live here with this mom! We are littermate brothera and she would only give us to someone who would take us both. -Scooby & Shaggy

Oh Parker, ten days at a time seems like a very long time! I would miss my Mommie if she was gone for that long too. My Daddie is not as good at taking care of me either.

Parker honey, it will be ok. Mommies nefurr lie and your daddy sounds like a nice daddy. we know that it won't be the same, but think of it this way - when she gets home, you can bug her all you want and holler at her and rub all ofurr her and make her feel guilty!

Oh I'm so sorry you're going to not have your Mom for such a long time. I heard my Mom tell my Daddy that she'll probably be gone for about a month in the summer visiting my Grandma and Grandpa. That means he'll have to take care of us without her help. I'm glad he knows how to do it but I also know I'll miss my Mom as much as you'll miss yours.

Oh, Parker! I feel so bad that your mommy's going away for a hundred years at a time. That would make me cry a whole lot if that happened to me.

Parker

That is a very purrty picture of you. I don't see how she could leave you with that look. Momma just wants to pick you up and cuddle(but I would be very jealous if she did...*grin)

our Lady never goes anywhere but work and errands, but she's gone lots doing that. it's okay though because we have 3 teenagers who are home lots. when we were little, the Allergic Girl went to Europe for 3 weeks and we forgot her. (sorry Allergic Girl, but we were just kittens. we prolly wouldn't forget you now)

To Parkers mommie:
We hope you have a safe trip so that you can come home soon and it is always good to come home.

To Parker and the kitties: we hope you do not suffer too much with just the daddie. Our daddie is not like mommie but he sits a lot more so we can get some lap time...
Bee sure that your mommie gives daddie a huge list of the things he has to do every day.

Parker, your mum is going to be gone 2-3 months? Wow. My mum travels sometimes, but is never gone for more than 5 days. I get to go to the kittie spa when she leaves.

parker, please listen to your mom when she promises to come back. she will. my mama always promises. sometimes i get scared after a day or two and think i must have misunderstood, but she has ALWAYS come back.

your mom probably would rather be home with you than ever go anywhere at all. i know that's how it is for my mama.

remember, too, you can always check in with us kitties on our bloggies and we can try to help you feel less lonely.

To Parker's Mommie: While we were in the process of moving back to Florida from Atlanta, I spent a month working in Florida during the week, and driving back to Altanta on weekends. It was sooo hard to leave the kitties, they were used to me being there all the time. Like you, they were lucky enough to have their Daddy to take care of them. They would get upset when they saw the suitcase on Sunday morning, and try to be mad at me when I got back on Friday evening, but it all worked out. They are happily settled back in Florida, and none the worse for the experience. It is probably harder on us humans, because we can't make them understand.
