Looking Both Forward and Back, It's All Good

Destroying the lamp switch in 3, 2, 1,...

Hi guys! Ricky Tiki Tavi here. Life is fun in our little corner of O Hi O! So much to do, so much to learn! I learned what a window is. You cannot jump through it. It's impossible to do no matter how many times I try. But you can have a blast with the lamp cord. It's my new favorite toy. I think I have been given a new name. "No No Ricky". I hope I get to keep my other name. Ricky Tiki Tavi is a lot nicer...
So, what's been going on you ask? Wrestling with Rudy, exploring what's inside the trash cans in the bathrooms and why, oh why I can't get through glass windows? Daddy discovered that he can't fly when he took a 20 foot spill from a ladder a month ago and he's been recovering ever since. Once Mommy got over her heart attack after witnessing Daddy's failed flying attempt, she has been taking care of him. He's a lot better now, but for the first couple of weeks she had to help him with his chores. He sprained his ankle pretty bad and now I have another game - Daddy calls it "let's try and kill Daddy". I call it "I just want to walk where Daddy is walking." Fun times kitties.
Mommy has been working a lot of hours and she was gone all of last week hunting for green papers away from our little corner in O Hi O. She got back on Friday and everyone was pretty happy to see her return.
While she was away, a great thing happened...

Bob and his new Mom
Bob was our little shelter's longest resident. Mommy wrote about him 5 years ago here. He came >>>this close<<< to living at our house, but four cats had always been the limit here. So on Thursday a wonderful thing happened. This wonderful lady had lost her kitty and she and her husband wanted a kitty to help heal their heart. Bob was their guy. We are happy to report that he's settled in nicely and loves sleeping with her and his new Daddy. YAY BOB!!! If you check out our little shelter's facebook page you will see what an awesome week it has been.
I have been told by my sibs that there is a very good day coming this week and it involves Turkey! And it means that I get to meet my Mommy's very best pal. Auntie Lois is flying in to meet me and help me celebrate my very first Thanksgiving! I can't wait to meet her and let her spoil me even more than I have already been spoiled. My sibs tell me that she is awesome!
So, I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and you get lots of treats.
Mommy and Daddy are thinking of sweet Parker Pie and will acknowledge her six month anniversary of going to the Bridge on Saturday. Thanksgiving was one of her favorite days. There will be a special prayer said for her at the Thanksgiving table. She's what our little family was grateful for. I have such big paws to fill.
Anyhow kitties, I love my life here and I am grateful for my family and for all of you that have welcomed me into the cat blogosphere. You rock!
Happy Thanksgiving and remember, the window aways wins...

  6. Life is quite an adventure, isn't it, No No Ricky! MOL, Binga's nickname is Binga BAD Girl! Usually when she has stolen my dinner. I am glad both your humans lived through your male human's fall! I bet that was scary for them. But your best news of all is about Bob! That is awesome! Sometimes kitties have to wait SO long for their home, but it sounds like the perfect one came along for him!

  7. Yea getting forever homes! I've been at mine for a little over a week now. We love rescuers!!!!
I wouldn't want to go through our windows. WE ARE WAY UP IN THE AIR!
Have you found the big thing that the peoples call a television can talk to you yet? Ours called me the other day. It said, "here, kitty, kitty" TWICE.
I've heard about your Parker. My mommy always thought she was very special. And she is so proud that somebody speaks up for that nasty Diabetes, cause mommy has it, too!
We are very proud that our sidebar supports the cause!
I like Ricki Tiki Tavi better than No No Ricki. Or is it Ricky?
I think you are cute. *blush*

  8. Oh Rikki, you can't go through glass windows! And you really don't want to be outside anyway! It's not safe out there!!! We are purring your dad's speedy recovery from his fall. Mom is a'scared of climbing on ladders. She's never been fond of heights anyway. Concatulations to Bob for finally finding a forever home! That makes our hearts happy!!!

  9. Happy First Thanksgiving Ricki - you do have tough shoes to fill, but so far you are doing a beautiful job for a little guy who isn't all grown up yet. Sorry your dad had a fall. Hope he recovers soon. Now you have a job of taking good care of him without tripping. you have to be extra careful around humans - they are pretty clumbsy compared to us kitties.

  14. Wonderful news about Bob. That is a long time to be in the shelter. We are surprized that such a cute ginger boy took so long to pick a new family. He must be furry picky.

Sorry your dad can't fly, we always worry about that when mum goes up on a ladder.

    Yep, happy turkey day coming.

  17. Hi Ricky! Yeah, windows can be tough like that, but window screens are worse. You can SMELL what's on the other side, but you can't get through them either. I am happy for your friend Bob! Take good care of your daddy, and keep doing what you're doing. That's just what he needs.

    Enjoy Turkey Day!
    your friend in New Hampster,
