Last Sunday Mommy thought she would make a special treat for all of us kitties. She took the recipe from Hot(M)BC for HAM! Cookies. She even went out in the blizzard to buy the ingredients 'cause we don't have baby food, wheat germ and powdered milk just hanging out in the pantry. She really is a good Mommy!
Here's the most important part - HAM!
She mixed everything up and rolled the mixture into little balls. (She says that wearing disposable gloves is a very good idea!) Then she popped them into the oven and baked them 'till they were all brown and pretty.
Here's the finished product. She let them cool and then she called all of us into the kitchen. Then she gave each of us our very own cookie. You know what we did then? We sniffed them. Then we looked at Mommy. Then we all left. Then Mommy called us back and broke the cookies up into smaller pieces to see if we would eat them. Nope. Not interested. Mommy wondered if I was sick or something 'cause I love HAM! more than anything else in the world. She finally gave up and left the kitchen. Later she caught Powder snarfing the cookies down. So, 1 kitty out of 4 ain't bad! She did, however, discover that Diamond Doggy LOVES them! I think it's going to be a very long time before Mommy makes us any treats again, she'll stick to getting our treats from the store! So, here's what I know - even formerly feral kitties can get picky, but we never forget how lucky we are to have a great home and a Mommy who loves us very much. Happy Friday everykitty!

Oh your poor mom - but I did laugh out loud. :)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!! All of us over at ManxMnews love love love LOVES the package. WE all had such a great time opening everything and we please come over and check out the pictures. Momma tried to upload a bunch more but she couldn't get all of them on -- dumb computers...but we are all so touched and overjoyed with everything. Did we say thank you?
And a big smoochie to all of you from all of us!

Haha that's the sort of fing we'd do.
Your poor Mom after such a lot of work you didn't even touch the good cookies ! Cats are very difficult they always eat what you think they won't eat and then the other way around ! for that doggies are more practical you never disappoint them, they are like little garbadge cans.
As I was reading that, I was wondering to myself which of us might eat the cookies. I was not sure about any of us, but yes, Mosaic Dawg would probably snarf them up. But even she can be picky when it comes to food and treats. She will eat Newman's organic treats...maybe DD would like those too?
Well of course Diamond Dog would eat them! You do know dogs will eat anything, don't you?
To your Mom, I'm sorry the ham cookies weren't a big hit. But you tried, that's what's important!
Well, at least yer Mom tried and it was not a total loss :)
Guess you'll have to stick to Temptations!! Woot!!
Ice Lanterns

Mom used some Ziploc containers (cheap) but you can use anything like cardboard milk containers etc. She used old pill bottles filled with rocks to put in the centre to make the hole for the tealight

well, we hadded 50% success, but then again Sammy hardly eats anything so that was not surprising. I did not eat the ferst batch wif only 1 jar of jam, but I did eat the 2nd batch wif the 2 jars of ham. I thought it covered the wheat germ taste pretty well. that's the prollem, the wheat germ. Mommy is thinking of putting the wheat germ in the food processor and grinding it up finer the next time.

That looks very yummie!!!
Merry Christmas!!
Oh, mom hasn't made doze cookies yet...we wonder if dey would be good wif cheeze in dem?
We would probably stick our noses up too, we were kind off like that...
Tara
Yep, I'm sure only Little Isis would eat them from the Purrchance To Dream gang - but then again, she eats lettuce. She is the only one of us who likes ham, if you can believe it!
Me, personally, I won't touch people food.
But I am glad, for you mommy's sake - since she went to all the trouble - that Diamond Doggy loves 'em.
Merry Christmas!
"Wow" your mom's great.I love ham and those look delicious :)
Okay. Owr Maw ist laffin an laffin. She sez ain't dat jist like poodins? Maw wood go owt in da blizzard to git sumtin fur us too. We hast her furry well trained. She is still laffin an laffin....
Luf, Us
Well at least the little project kept her busy for awhile.
Momma's laughing. What happened at your house is pretty much the reason that she hasn't made those for us yet. Hahahahaha! Daddy says that she can count on Titus to clean them up, though, if me and EG don't like them. hee hee
Love,
Tazo
Awwww your mommie walked to the store in the blizzard, (probably with small shooz on) and got the ingredients, then she worked and slaved in the kitchen and made these wonderful cookies using gloves even...
eh, sounds like our house... us, and even the bean kids.
Give Powder a big hug from us.
What a sweet kitty to eat the cookies! and Diamond. Well, Doggies will eat just about anything won't they?
Happy Day
Hmm ... I have a feeling that may be the last time your mommy walks to the store in a blizzard for you. Better make sure you have a cupboard full of food next time it starts snowing!
Rocky
How funny! Your poor mom.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope Sandy Paws is very good to you all. Purrs!
I totally understand your perspective. You can't just eat anything given to you, you have to eat only specific random things to keep your humans on their toes.
Kaze
You have a wonderful mom to make specially baked treats for you!
Forever homes are the best present in the world - even better than ham (mostly)! We're always thankful - but we think we'd like to try the cookies out just in case - maybe we can get mom to make some before she goes?
Hope you all have a very Meowy Christmas!
My human says that is exactly why she doesn't cook for me, because she knows that is what I will do. Still that doesn't mean she shouldn't cook, does it?
I'm not very good at adapting to new foods, either. Maybe if your mum mixed them in with some of your regular treats? Or put a little tuna juice on them? Happy Friday to you too... although it's already Saturday morning here. So Happy Saturday too!
That was very thoughtful of your momma to make them for you to try, even if you ended up not liking them. I bet she's glad she had something fun to do on a snowy day.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
Your Mom did a very nice thing making ham cookies. We like our ham natural so we probably would not eat the cookies either. Well, Bounce would but his nick name is pig boy-he eats anything.
Maybe if she baked a little nip in there....
You tell your mom *I would have eaten ALL the ham cookies - there are very few things I've *ever turned my nose up at!
I'm laughing, but I feel a bit sorry for your Mom. She put in all that work and you kitties turned up your noses at the cookies. I'm glad that at least Powder and Diamond Doggie like them.
