The Rudy Report

Just waiting on dinner...hurry up!
Sanibonani kitties! It's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! What a week it was here! Puff and Powder are now officially teenagers and we had a great weekend celebrating their birthday. The actual day of their birthday was on Friday and we want to thank all of you who came over to help them celebrate. On that particular day, I did not feel as though I had a lot to celebrate. It started with the PTU making an appearance and from there things just went downhill for moi. Mommy stuffed me in the PTU and we headed down the road to visit Dr. Joe and Dr. Wendy. Now don't get me wrong, I love them both but I have seen enough of them to last a long, long time. I was overdue for my Rabies shot and my FeLV shot. I could not get them when they were due because I was still recovering from that awful, horrid, no good Hemobart. So into the room I went and I was treated like a rock star. Lots of the staff peeked their heads in to see me and they all remarked on how handsome and wonderful I looked. Both Dr. Joe and Dr. Wendy came in to check me out. You see, Dr. Joe is the guy who does the day-to-day Vet stuff and Dr. Wendy is the gal who does the surgery and critical care Vet stuff. Dr. Wendy wanted to see for herself how I had progressed. Let's check my weight first, shall we?
Crappy phone shot courtesy of Mommy
Holy Cod! 12.2 pounds! When I was sick, I was down to 7 pounds. My normal weight was about 11 pounds. So, I guess I showed that Hemobart where to go! Everyone was very pleased with that number. After the great weigh in, I was poked and prodded and they looked in every opening I had (geez!). My toofies are good, my ears are pretty clean, my ticker is fine and apparently my butt is pretty nice as well. Time for the shots. Dr. Joe first gave me a shot of cortisone behind my head so I would not be as sore. Then in one flank I had the Rabies shot and in the other flank I had my FeLV. Dr. Joe said that since I am an indoor-only kitty that I never have to have another FeLV shot again. Yay! I took my shots like a good mancat and never even flinched. After that I was more than ready to hop back into the PTU and head on home...
Open the door, will ya'?
So kitties, that was that. I hope I don't have to go back to see Dr. Joe and Dr. Wendy for a long, long time. I spent the rest of the weekend in laps and inhaling some 'nip leftover from the Calico's party. Not a bad way to recover from a trip to the Vet's.
Oh, one more thing. Lobster is good. Very, very good. You should try it if you get a chance. Where has it been all of my life?

The Rudy Report

Me 'Splorin' Dr. Wendys Stuff
dzieƄ dobry kitties! It's me - RUDY! with you Rudy Report! Last Friday I went for my final check up with Dr. Wendy. The news was awesome! If you remember at my very sickest, I weighed 7 pounds. Today kitties, I am proud to report that I weighed in at 10.5 pounds! Dr. Wendy was so shocked that she weighed me on 3 scales. I was happy, alert and full of cuddles for my favorite vet. She said I was "special" and that I was a "miracle". Here is some more good news. She doesn't want to mess with perfection, so for the time being I do not have to get the shots that I am due to have. She wants to wait until April - and I am A-OK with that! All of the vet techs, the receptionists and Dr. Joe came in to say hello. They all said that I was such a good cat and that they are so happy that I have my health back. I still have a teensy bit of weight to gain as my ideal weight is about 11 pounds. Not a problem, I'll get to work on that right away! I know that I had a close call with seeing the Bridge up close and personal and I am one grateful kitty. All of your good thoughts, prayers and purrs got me back on solid ground. I am not ready to leave this little corner of O Hi O just yet. Thanks kitties.

The Mom-'rent here - my hubby and I want to say thanks to all of you as well. We are so very happy that we got our Orange Menace back. Dr. Wendy had one word of caution, once Hemobart is there, it's there. He can have a relapse, but she thinks that the probability is slim for our Rudester. We have to always watch his stress levels as stress can bring on another onset. She did say that it was OK to make a grooming appointment for him. So - don't tell Rudy, but in a few weeks he gets the pleasure of going to see Tiffany, his favorite groomer at Diamond Doggies vet. Heh-heh...

The Rudy Report

Well Hi there kitties - it's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! What an awesome weekend it was! Mommy went out hunting and came back with a refill for the middle of my our Turbo Track ball chaser. She stuffed it full of the preemo 'Nip and I went to town! So much fun! I really feel good and Mommy says she thinks that I weigh more now than I ever have. I have to go and visit Dr. Wendy next month for my shots that are overdue. Dr. Wendy did not want to give them to me a few months ago because it was too early after that awful Hemobart that I had. I've  made it through my grooming last month, so I guess I can make it through a visit to Dr. Wendy and a few pokes in the butt.
The grill has been working overtime with the nicer weather and we have all had little tastes of real live dead shrimps and steak. Springtime rocks.
Keep those tails high and enjoy the passing of winter. I have to say, this winter was the worst winter I have ever had in all of my 12 + years. I made it though and am happy that I have the chance to welcome Spring to our little corner of O Hi O!

The Rudy Report

I Taste Good!
Greeting and salutations kitties! Here I am, RUDY! with your Rudy Report! Here in Gods deep freeze, we've been hanging out in the kitchen watching Mommy cook things. She made a lot of stuff, some of it was good, some of it was not something I would rate high on the kitty scale of nommy. Brownies are nothing I'd ask her to give a repeat performance on, but pork ribs, make 'em again! She made potato pancakes and I was sort of lukewarm about those. It is a lot of fun snoopervising and she's very entertaining to watch.
It is freezy cold here and I feel so bad any animals who are stuck outside. Daddy feeds the birds and the squirrels, I watch them chow down and they seem fine with the weather.
Next Monday I go to see the lovely Dr. Wendy for my (hopefully) last Hemobart check-up. Given the fact that I run around and play like my tail is on fire and I eat like there is no tomorrow, I am hoping for a great report. If the report is good, it's bad. Why? Because I'll have to endure a grooming. Since I am less than pristine with my grooming habits, I'll need to make an appointment with Tiffany, my personal groomer and get all sleek and de-matted.
As Roseanne Rosannadanna would say - "it's always something..."
Keep those tails high kitties...

A Perfectly Parker Update

The mom here - first of all I am sorry for not updating. Parker Pie is still struggling to recover from whatever it is that has her in less than "perfect" form. She's a little lethargic and still a little on the thin side. Her appetite is great and she's getting all the stinky goodness she wants. Her ver vist last Friday showed lingering traces of a UTI so she had to endure another shot from Dr. Joe. He wants to see her in a few weeks and if she's still not improving we move on to x-rays and a thyroid test. It isn't Hemobart like Rudy had - but we are still worried for our little gal.
I have my plate full with our little shelter, and, oh, that fulltime + job I have. So this little blog has suffered 'cause I need to spend all of the extra time hovering over Parker Pie.
I'll try to do better at updates, and any good vibes you can send for our precious Parker are greatly appreciated.
She sends much better smoochies that I do, but here's one from me  - Smooch!
