Diabetes Sux!

Hi Everykitty!
I have a favor to ask of you. I would like to raise awareness about Diabetes. November is national Diabetes month and my good pals at Zoolatry helped me make a badge and a very cool header to remind us that Diabetes is a terrible, sneaky, rotten disease that robs us of our health and our time and our money. You can read a lot about it here. My Mommy has had Diabetes for almost five years and she really hates it. I'd love nothing more than finding a cure for Diabetes and making it go away forever. It's worse than a pack of mean dogs standing in a sea of vacuum cleaners!
So here is the favor - please put my badge on your sidebar so that beans are reminded to take care of themselves (and us!). Eat healthy, exercise, reduce stress and take your medicines if you should. Make sure if you do have Diabetes to check your blood glucose every day! If you beans don't take care of yourselves, you won't be able to take care of us kitties! And that would be awful!
Thanks so very much from the bottom of my kitty heart!
Love and smoochies,

Dearest sweet Parker,
We will make sure mommy puts the badge on our bloggy today. Our big brother, Ricky, had diabetes. It made him very sick and mommy had to check his blood sugar and give him shots every single day. We hate that ol' mean diabetes. We hope your mommy feels okay and always takes her medicines.

Very truly yours,

My mom says she will try and figure out a way to place the badge near our guardian angel Maxfield. Maxfield passed away from diabetes before I was born. I understand he was one of the coolest cats every. It's a rotten horrible and awful disease.

What a good idea. My human's family (mother and brother) both have diabetes and two of her friends at work so she is well aware of how important it is for everyone to look after their health. FAZ

Good on you Miss P, we agree and hope they find a cure for diabetes.

I don't know if your mommy saw any of the documentries on what is happening with some weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery). They found that by reducing the stomach and removing the duodenum many patients were cured of diabetes, often days after surgery and before they had had any weightloss. See links : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22787261/
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/05/earlyshow/contributors/emilysenay/main653934.shtml

We hope that clever scientists and doctors are able to use this new information to help cure everyone with diabetes.

We are happy to help you out Miss Parker, and your great cause.
