Tattle Tail Tuesday - It. Was. The. Modem.

"Hiya'! I'm back, didja' miss me?"
After days of running scans, cleaning out files and other stoopid attempts at fixing a computer that WAS NOT BROKEN, the very nice computer man spent 2 minutes looking at our computer and said to Mommy, "unplug your modem." So once Daddy did that, the very nice computer man was able to hook us up to another signal in the 'hood and BAM!, blazing fast connection!
Does Mommy feel very stupid? Yes.
Am I happy to be back with my friends in the blogosphere? Yes.
Do I worry that Mommy is so stupid that she might forget how to feed me? Yup, yup, I do.
So, if you'll excuse me, I need to catch up on what you kitties have been up to!
See ya'!

Oh boy do I understand THIS, Parker! ML tolerated the DTV being really fuxxed up for days on end. Time was off, no program guide showing...she finally called and after 87 minutes on hold, the woman said: "Unplug your receiver for 3 minutes." DOH.
Then her internet connection went out after dinner last week. She watched and watched for it to come back on. Still not on next morning. Calls ISP to see if it is network-wide. Nope. JUST HER. The man says: "Unplug your modem for 3 minutes". DOH.
Honest to Pete.
There. I did tattle today after all.

That was a good tattle, indeed.
Glad it wasn't broken for real, though.
Next time my Not The Mama isn't working, I may just unplug him for a few minutes....

I am glad that the computer problem was only the modem and not something hideously expensive. Nice to have you back on line!

I'm really glad your computer is fixed and you can visit again Parker.

Our Mom and Dad are just like your Mom and Dad - they are okay with the computer until something goes wrong!

A tattle on The Big Thing, by LC...

When we changed from dial-up service to cable service, the Comcast Bein came out an hooked efrything up. It worked great. A few days later, The Big Thing decided to add a lamp at the desk and it needed ta be on sometimes when the computer was off. So he moved the modem plug from the wall outlet to the multi-outlet that turns off all the computer stuff.

He started hafin connection problems; the modem just couldn't find the internets sometimes. He learned that if he pressed a reset button onna modem a few times, efrything was OK. But he got really tired of doin that an demanded the Comcast Bein come out an replace the modem.

While he was waitin, he glanced at the "instalashun roolz". Part in dark letters said "modem plug must be plugged inta wall outlet".

"DUH" The modem thingie wasn't findin the internets cause it kept hafin to search for Comcast home efry time!

The Big Thing was so embarased he just plugged the modem back inta the wall (just as the Comcast Bein arrived) an never said a word about it.

It worked just fine after that...

Your mommy is funny but we don't think she'll forget to feed you-well we hope not!!!

Our mom is super cool-even though she gives us medicine. Kodak actually goes and finds mom when he needs his insulin-I guess that's what Russians do-Winton isn't too keen on his pill, but I bet he knows it makes him feel better, as for me, Perf-I'm medicine free (right now!!)

Welcome back, Parker. And, oh, my mama is a diabetic and she still gives blood. You have to have "good levels" and remember to eat a good meal before, and remember to drink lots of water before and after. Hope your mama tries again. But if she doesn't, don't feel bad. Mama is a "regular"....

That's a good thing you learned about unplugging the modem. That is the one thing my stupid tech Food Lady knows how to do. If that doesn't work, she's lost!

I am glad you are back, Parker. Mom, don't feel too stupid. When the computer isn't working right, the modem isn't the first thing you think of. I found out about the "unplug the modem for a few minutes" thing from a friend after I had connection problems. Now that's the first thing I try.

Don't feel so bad. Our human, who likes to think she's pretty smart, had done something similar. Sheesh. ;)

Wow I hopes your mom didn't have to pay too many greeen monies for that. Don't worry , my mum had to help two very senior people at work who couldn't get the computer to log on, mum went down to help them and showed them the on button.

Nice photo of you parky parks.

I don't think your Mommy's stupid. We've never ever realized we had a bad modem until we cannot get online at all. I would have never suspected the modem.
