Wayback Wednesday - T-Gray 1977-1997

This is T-Gray. He is the cat who paved the way for all of us to have a home with a Mommy who takes care of us and loves us unconditionally. T-Gray's story is quite interesting. He came to live with Mommy in an unsual way. It's a long story and we will tell it in two parts. Today is part 1.
===========================
Mommy is from the Mitten state. She grew up near Detroit - Motown - The Motor City. A lot of people think that Detroit is not a great place. Mommy would disagree. She was allergic to cats when she was young, but adored our species from a distance. When I tell you she was allergic, I mean she was ALLERGIC! Her throat would swell shut and her eyes would get so swollen they would close. She had a friend who had a big farm out in the country. He had a barn with about 4 cats. When she would visit she would go to the barn and watch his kitties do the stuff kitties do; play, nap and other fun kitty things. She especially loved a cat that named Mew. Mew was a big black tabby who ruled the roost. She was a very sweet, gentle cat that would come right up to humans and let them know that it was OK to worship her beauty and charm. Mommy always talked to Mew and wished she could have a cat just like her. Mew was not spayed and she had litters of kittens about twice a year. The good news about this was that her kittens were in high demand. Mew was a well known cat in the area and everyone wanted a "Mew kitten." Remember that this was the 70's and humans were not as responsible about getting their cats spayed and neutered as we claim to be today. Mew lived a long and healthy life. Mommy is pretty certain that her kittens and their kittens, and on and on and on are still going strong in that area of the Mitten state today. Mommy feels bad for not knowing better back then, if she knew what she knows today, Mew would have had a LadyGarden-ectomy after litter #1. While Mew was being a loose women, Mommy went to college "up north." She also saw a doctor about her allergies and started to do de-sensitivation with her allergies (she was also allergic to rabbits and some other things). Time passed and she became friends with other people with kitties. She would hold them for a little while, then a little longer and after a year or so she noticed that her symptoms were less and less life-threatening!
Enough about that...while Mommy was going to college trying to get smart and less allergic, she was also making friends and doing all the fun things college girls did in the 70's. This included renting a big, huge home that had 4 bedrooms and a big fireplace and a ton of room. Mommy and 3 of her friends were having a blast. They decided to have a big costume party for Halloween. A BIG party! Mommy invited some of her friends from her hometown for the weekend. It was a party that changed her life and ours! Tune in next Wednesday for the rest of the story!
Mommy here - sorry for the poor quality of T-Gray's photo, I sadly only have a few pictures of him and had to scan them. It was the best I could do!

I can't wait to hear the rest of the story!! Humans learn things over time, so we can't be too hard on them as long as they do learn.

We can't wait to hear the rest of your story. Momma can sympathizes with your mommy's cat allergies. In her earlier days any animal with fur could send her into life threating asthma attacks. (Some still do) She could only love from a distance.

We will wait a week if we must! Mosaic Lady had 3 cats while in college and she still thinks of them today, especially "Poops", who was sort of Walter #1. In many ways, even in their last days.
She has always thought that hell on earth would be an allergy to cats! Can you imagine???

Parker, tell your Mommy I am from Michigan too. I was born in Detroit and I love Motown hits. T-Gray was a special cat and lived a full live and he DID pave the way for all of you. I am glad Mommy got over her allergies. I used to be allergic to cats when I was younger but got over it. I didn't have to take medication though.
Love to you, Puff, Powder, Rudy and, of course, Diamond Doggie.

T-Gray was a good lookin' guy! My momma had two stripey boys when she was in college. Her orange boy, Scooter, had a seizure and went to the Bridge suddenly her first semester of college, and she was devastated, but then I came along! Her other stripey boy, Scrappy the Cat, lived with Granny and Poppa until he went to the Bridge this past January. He looked a lot like T-Gray. Momma misses him a lot, so she's lookin' forward to the rest of your story about T-Gray.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
