Rudy, The Man Cat of My Family

"I don't wanna' go! Mommmmy, pleeeeeeze!"
Since our anniversary of Catster is tomorrow and Rudy is headed for the V.E.T. today, I thought I would re-post my first entry about him. Even last year I was talking about his lack of good grooming!
(originally posted March, 2007)
My brother Rudy is the excitement junkie of our family. He always wants to be where the action is. If there is no action he'll start some. He's 100% boy. Playful, charming, and a big fat flirt when it comes to women. He likes to roughhouse with our D.O.G. brother, Diamond. If you ask me, he acts like he's a few tuna cans short of a casserole. His tail is huge and always poofy and when he walks he keeps it high, high, high in the air. He's orange and proud! But what really cracks me up about my brother is his girlish meow. It sounds like it's coming out of a very small kitten. Not man-cattish at all. Nope, not at all.
Rudy's downfall is grooming. He won't let Mommy groom him and he stinks at doing it himself. Every so often the lack of grooming buys him a trip to the V.E.T. for a professional comb-out and buzz cut to his butt. He really doesn't like that very much and he doesn't know it, but he's going there soon for his summer butt buzz. I can't wait! It's so much fun to see him when he comes home. We call him "poodle-butt" behind his back!
Rudy is actually my sister Puff's flesh and blood son. He's going to be eight years old this year. Puff was knocked up when Mommy and Daddy got her. They did not know this. They were not happy with her impending motherhood but decided to get busy and find homes for these about-to-be-born kittens. Anyway, Puff had three kittens and two of them got adopted to friends of Mommy and Daddy. Daddy got to watch Rudy and his brother and sister be born. Daddy says he doesn't want to see something like that again anytime soon! (sqeamish Daddy?) Mommy and Daddy thought Rudy was too cute to leave the family. I don't know about that, cause he can be a real pain in my tail. Rudy is the only cat in our family to never know what it's like to not have a home. We try to tell him what life was like before we got here and he doesn't believe that things could ever be that bad for any kitty. In a way, I'm kinda' glad he doesn't know.
Anyway, that's my brother Rudy for this Man Cat Monday. He really is a good guy - but don't tell him I said that! Oh, and that poodle-butt thing, keep that just between us, OK? Otherwise I might get a tail whooping by him!

Thanks for introducing us to Rudy. He is a big mancat. But he might be a little crazy to play with the D.O.G.! I am scairt of them.

Poodle-butt? Sounds cute ... We keep telling Sparky Fuzzypants that he's gonna get a lion cut if he doesn't keep his fur unmatted, but he LOVES being brushed, so Mom lets him keep the long fur (the rest of us are short-hairs and low maintenance).

You're a good brother for letting him be the Big Man cat on this Monday. Poodle-butt? I bet that would be funny to see. We had a Chow (that's a kind of dog) and he was my buddy. He thought he was a cat! But he went to the Bridge when I was little.

He is quite the handsome fellow! We love his color and his gorgeous floofy tail!
Dads can be real "pussy's" when it comes to medical stuff & all!

Rudy is a lovely fluffy man-cat!

Personally, I don't think being shaved would be that big a deal, but then I'm naturally hairless. :) Bald is beautiful after all!

ben2 writing: let me give a little encouragement to rudy and his poodle butt. mom gets me a lion cut once a year because i have a double coat that's impossible to keep smooth. i usually feel a bit embarrassed at first--i'm almost naked! and then it feels so good to have all the mats gone.

rudy, be sure to get your family to promise not to pet you in the wrong direction on your poodle butt fur. it hurts!

salutations,
benjamin

Awww, what a nice story about Rudy. You really like the guy! He sounds a lot like Gizzy. I think they would have been great pals.

You're lucky to have such a friendly brother.

Oh gosh Rudy... off to Zee Barbee Shop... I go on Monday. It is my first time to go. You must let me know how it feels. The Human says they are going to give me a shot (ouch) that will make me go to sleep while they "do the do". I be a bit scared, like a scardey cat. Will I be OK? Will you be OK? ... Zoey ...

I think my orange brofur has pantalones on his back side. But, I can't say too much cuz Momma has to help me keep clean and sometimes she gets the *gasp* scissors to my furrs around my bu*t and I don't like it AT ALL. But, it's better than going to the vet....

Rudy sounds a lot like Vincent. He's very proud of his floofy tail, and he has a very girly little meow (very cute). Luckily, so far, no grooming problems.

Heh heh. A few tuna cans short of a full casserole!! That's hilarious! Obi and Rudy are very similar. Well, but Obi keeps his butt area fairly clean so he doesn't need to get a butt buzz. But he's got a pitiful little meow, and his tail is always flying proud at full attention.

Dorf is very honored that his picture is on your Mom's work pooter desktop. He says that's cool.

I hope everything goes okay for Rudy at the v-e-t. It does not sound like very much fun to have your bottom shaved.

Oh, that poodle butt thing scares us - Pearl and I try really hard to keep our floofs in good shape so Mommy doesn't have to get the "mat breaker" out (or take us for a cut)!

Aww Parky Parks that was a nice story about Rudy. I did not know that Puff was his mommy.

Hey Social Link came by to visit my blog, I saw them in mybloglog visitors. You and I should set up a campaign to get us some votes. Just like Obama and Clinton - we should be raising our profile. What do you think my Ohio friend?
