Ricky Tiki Tavi Update

Hey Everykitty -
I thought I would let everyone know that I am doing great here at Casa de Parker. I also thought you'd like to know that the 'rents found out about a little secret that I had been keeping. I can't hear anything. I am a deaf kitty. That's right, no sounds, no nothin' Nada, Zip Zilch. I went for for my final hearing teats yesterday and it's true. The experts think that the horrible ear mites that I had before the 'rents found me wrecked my hearing. I am not even a candidate for cochlear implants. You know what? So what? I am loved and I am a very happy boy. Just because I can't hear, does not mean I can't live a long and happy life with my 'rents and my sibs. I get a lot of love from everyone and I enjoy playing and snuggling and loving on everyone,
Life is good and I am so happy I found this home to be a part of!
Love,
Ricky Tiki Tavi

  12. Ricky, clearly you did not need to hear to have an awesome life! But it is good for your humans to know so they can look out for you in certain ways a hearing kitty would not need. I am glad you are doing so well with your not-so-new-now family!

  19. People don't say much worth hearing anyway...at least you're in a place where they'll make efforts for you, and you won't miss it when treats are being handed out. They'll make sure you get 'em...

  20. Ricky I am a 19 yr. old tabby who suddently went totally deaf about 5 yrs, ago. My Mom thought I just got over being afraid of the rug sucking machine, but then she figured out I was happy cuse I couldn't hear the dran thing anymore. I don't mind not hearing because Mom figured out that I needs a nightlight in the litter box room (good light helps compensate for hearing loss). We learned some great hand signals & Mom makes sure to pet me lots extra. I do yell when I am asleep and someone touches me and I also talk a little too loud, but no real problems. When I lived with a couple of other cats I was worried about them sneeking up on me. You might have this issue with you know whos. Sorry your deafness can't be fixed, but you'll be fine.
Play it for all its worth! You don't have to listen to all those orders to "Stop that" & "Get down" any more.

  22. Ricky...being deaf has it's advantages! I had my hearing for most of my life and now it's almost all gone. I'm going to be 17 years young this coming May. You know what? Now I don't have to listen to the other cats meowing about boring stuff and I can never take the blame for not paying attention to whatever. The best part is that I don't wake myself up when I snore! Ha!

  26. So what that you can't hear. Yeah, when the food cans get opened you might not be the first one there, but just follow the crowd. You found a great home, enjoy it.
