One of our board members at our little shelter (Ryan Recker) makes a great case for Pit Bulls. We decided to share it today. All of you in O Hi O take notice, He makes a lot of sense. Pit Bulls are good woofies and I hope the bill passes. Smoochies!
Ryan Recker makes a lot of sense. The state we just left, Victoria, just passed a whole bunch of dumb 'Dangerous Dog' legislation. Dogs are now at risk of being seized and pts based on how they look, unless they can prove that they are not one of the breeds on the dangerous dog list. Rangers have been given a list of physical characteristics to look for that could be a great number of breeds.
One of the sickest displays from the Lost Dogs Home (who support the legislation) was putting together a photo reference guide of 'dangerous dogs' they found in their 'shelter'. Despite having them on the slip leads that they use to take dogs to the kill room, they dressed them up further in big studded collars to try and make them look more stereotypically dangerous. It was rage inducing.
"The animal is the victim"...he is absolutely right there!! He makes excellent analogies and we applaud him for using his position at the radio station to get it across.
we hopes so, too. no furfurriend should be judged by the color or configuration of his/her skin!!
ReplyDeleteWe have sent emails to our senators and representatives. Breed bans are BAD!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. We also live in O Hi O, and agree that blame the deed (humans) not the breed!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Padre, Panda Bear, Meerkat, Cookie, Caramel, Sunny, Sky, and Mama Rose
Pit bulls are like any other dog -- they act like they are taught to act. I hope the bill passes.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Ryan! We sure hope this bill passes, because it makes a lot of sense.
