Yo yo yo kitties, this is Rudy, with your Rudy Report. I did not have the best of weekends - there was an all out war on the mat on my butt. I did not want it messed with. The 'rents had other ideas. They tried to get it with the evil, wicked clippers - that was unacceptable and I ran away. Then they tried to use the Furminator - some progress, but then I ran away. Then Mommy waited 'till I was all sleepy and relaxed and she started to pet me and sweet talk me and give me skritches and the next thing I knew she had taken the scissors and poof! She got it out! 'Rents are sneaky, remember that kitties! I do have to admit that it feels better, but I did not give my permission for her to do that!
After the fun of grooming, the weekend was spent making fudge. Mommy made about 12 pounds of it to take to work and share. That's fine with me, none of us can eat it anyway. Well, Daddy can and she is keeping some at home for him to enjoy.
It's such a great time of year - we have trees to mess with and company to meet and lots of good things happening in the kitchen - I hope your Monday is more like a weekend and your fur has no mats!
Mats aren't fun. We don't get them very often, but when we do we don't like the removal process.
ReplyDeleteThat Fudge looks yummy. Our Mom made Peppermint Bark. Who would want to eat something that sounds like a woofie?
Sniffie and the Florida Furkids
I sometimes get small mats near the base of my tail but I love the furminator, so mum gets them out with that. Flynn says it's because my butt is too wide and I can't reach there very well, but what does he know. He's just being rude about my manly fizz-eek as usual.
ReplyDeleteI hate having the back of my legs combed, so it gets a bit matted there. Nice photo of you Rudy.
ReplyDeleteRudy, we know you didn't like your mat being messed with...but it's better that it's out now...
ReplyDeletei can't believe beans. Sometimes, when my floof gets to long- i might accidentally pee on it. I don't mean it. But i clean myself up all right. However, i do sit on a lot of things before i find the perfect cleaning station. And, mom has taken to 'trimming' my floof before we get to that point now. the nerve!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the mats. ~S,S & F
ReplyDeleteYour fudge recipe sounds so good! Mum is going to try it out.
ReplyDeleteWe are glad that our hair is not long enough to get a mat in it. It does not sound fun.
I have never had a matt and it does not sound like something I want to try. I am glad you feel better without it!
ReplyDeleteWow! You did a great job of trying to outsmart your Mom. By your description of the ordeal though, I am happy my furs are nice and short.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to deal with mats this weekend. We don't ten to get mats as we're all short haired and mum gives us a good brush every week.
ReplyDeleteOh noes! Well, we are glad the mat is now gone!!
ReplyDeleteOur mom wished she worked with your mom. She loves fudge!
Better de-matted before Chrismouse ~ so yoo can look yoor best when Santa visits, huh?
ReplyDeleteDid she make nip flavored fudge?
ReplyDeleteRudy we just love that picture of you. Can we send Nigel over to your mom so she can furminate his butt?
Oh Rudy that was so awful! Sneaky hoomins. But we really like that picture of you there!
ReplyDeleteYou'll feel much better now Rudy with that off of your butt!!!
ReplyDeleteMats aren't much fun, I know. My "angel" Chumley used to get them all the time--he was long-haired too. I used to take him to a groomer a few times a year and have his butt and hind legs and tummy shaved. They told me he LOVED the clippers and would lie on his back in bliss, but he didn't like the brush. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteSo while it's not much fun, Rudy, at least your mom didn't have to take you to someone else to do it!
My kitty sometimes gets mats by his armpits. The groomer told me to use a metal comb. It worked like a charm! We also use the furminator, and a slicker brush. :)
ReplyDeletethat was pretty sneaky of your mom. there oughta be a law against involuntary grooming.
ReplyDeleteThat may have been sneaky, but she got that nasty old mat gone! Enjoy the tree!
ReplyDeleteMy Mommeh tries that sneaky trick when she wants to clip my clawrs!
ReplyDeleteOh I am sorry. Momma has been trying to work out a mat on my tummy for a few days now but I hate having that worked on.. AND I think she is planning on trimming up my bumm... I hate that too.
ReplyDeleteAnother great report, Rudy. Andy knows exactly what you're saying about those mats....and how sneaky the beans can be in dealing with them. Happy Monday :)
ReplyDeleteButt mats are no fun. Our older brother Alex (now at the bridge) used to have that problem. We both have short hair, so hopefully that won't happen to us.
ReplyDeleteGlad your butt mat is gone but your Mom is sure sneaky.
Oh Rudy! We feel for you man! Our mom is really sneaky like yours when it's time for something horrible like getting our nails clipped or going to the vet! As hard as I try I'm just a sucker for scritchies.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week all!
What is it wif sneaky moms? Mine sneaks up on me when I'm asleep and clips my claws! Sadie goes fur rubbies and dad grabs her and holds he pointy side out so mom can be sneaky and clip her claws. But we don't mind getting brushed or furminated so...no mats!
ReplyDeletesneaky sneaky beans. they should get coal for chrissymouse for tricking you!
ReplyDeleteYes, they can be VERY sneaky... mine tried to sneak a babybean into the house last week without me noticing!
ReplyDeleteI knows just what you mean about the beans being sneeky when you have a mat.. I seem to know when they are even thinking about it. Sixth sense.. You are loking good now though.. HUgs GJ x
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get rid of that mat...I hope the new year will be mat-free for you!
ReplyDeleteHow sneaky! Mom has to tackle us w/ a towel just to clip our claws - I'm the worst! I scream bloody murder when she goes at my claws (& she has never hurt me - go figure!). So she's had to get more and more sneaky - darn peeps! Glad you got that mat off of your butt, though! Bet you are, too!
ReplyDeleteNico (w/ Austin & JayJay) :)
We bribe our feistier kitties with treats to get their mats and clip their claws. One human does the deed while the other holds a tempting treat at their nose. Kitty can't have the treat until the deed is done, although he can lick it. Works like a charm every time!
ReplyDelete~Lisa Co9T
Yeah, the beans ARE sneaky! Mom always clips our nails when we're snoozin'.
ReplyDeleteOMC, Rudy...I can't believe this! My Mom did 'xactly the same thing to me. First she tried the clippers, then the Furm thing and then, THEN she snuck up on me with the scissors!! But now I'm mat free.
ReplyDeleteMax S.
That's an awesome picture of you looking down from above, Rudy! Makes you look furry regal!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the mat. I love being combed, personally!
Mummy bought a special electric razor for mats, it works a charm! Maybe you need to get one for xmas? Nah, you need a TUNA for xmas, let the humans ask for the razor!!
ReplyDeleteMum only makes the peanut brittle, maybe about 10 pounds so far. Make three more batches today.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the purrs. They helped lots :) The Vet lady was happy with the test results. Nothing too serious!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe do agree that' ,rents' are sneaky!!! Especially when giving pills!!!!!! heeheehee
At least you feel better Rudy :)
Purrs Mickey, Georgia & Tillie
It's not easy being floofy... I had a small mat in my cataloons this weekend.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the sneaky scissors...boy that's a lot of fudge and it sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has been finding a few mats in my floof lately.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she got the mat out, even if you don't approve. You gotta admit Mommies just want what's best.
ReplyDeleteRudy, you have learned a valuable lesson about human nature.
