Formerly Feral Friday - Name The Big Kitties!

Lookit' what moved in with us!
Formerly Feral Lions!

Aren't they wonderful?

Mommy said I could have a contest to give them names! They are going to live outdoors on our porch entryway. They are going to sit where our big planters are. (This is a photo of our home before we moved in last year)

So here's the contest deal. Our family needs two names. One for each lion.

You will have until March 18th (Tuesday Night at Midnight - Eastern Time) to cast your votes.
Winner(s) will be announced on Thurday, March 20th.
After the close of voting we will have a panel of human judges pick winners from the names submitted.
The winner will receive a groovy kitty prize package from me - and trust me, I know what a groovy prize package should look like!
You need to have a blog or a Catster page to enter.
Have fun, be creative and enter!

  2. Oh boy! We will start thinking about that!

Mom LOVES your covered front porch. She says it would almost be worth the snow to have that porch. Almost.

  3. This will require a great deal of thought on our part and Friday is not really a thinking day cause our brains is worn out by Friday... but we'll try. Your lions are quite handsome we think.

  7. Richard the Lion Hearted and Zoey the Lionheaded -- although Meep's been subjected to those lion cuts as well. At least those lions won't want to play with your toys and eat your foods.

  10. Minerva and Athena. (ok, so mommy thinks they look like the lions that are always in front of a certain fraternity house, and she believes that that lion is named Minerva. Athena is the greek name for the same goddess).

  14. Your Lions should be Alpha and Omega.

    This is my vote:

    Cheysuli

    ReplyDelete
  15. Parker, your lions should very obviously be Leo the Lion and Aslan!

My Mommie actually first heard about the cat blogosphere because of Daisy at Cats Exclusive where our Mommie's volunteer. Everyone there said, "you must check out Daisy the Curly Cat!"

Our Mommies has never met though because Daisy's Mom goes on weekdays in the morning when my Mommie is at work :(

Gin is adorable, and I wishes someone would give him a furrever home. He is always so scairt of everyone though that he runs away when they goes to pet him. It takes my Mommie many minutes each time to get him to allow her to scritch the ears!

  16. Dave and Roger. Because Diamond and Rudy need more dudes (with R & D names) in the house. heh

Are those guys made of cement? The Mom bought Dad a cement German Shepherd a few years ago. He's super heavy. The movers wouldn't even move him to their new house, so The Mom's co-workers came over and moved him. heh His name's Marco.

  17. We'll have to think about that over the weekend - we want to get some super names!

  18. They look very dignified, so they should have dignified names... and they're big...hmmm... Still thinking...

BTW, I read the article and watched the video about the bounty on feral cats. That's just plain WRONG! Perhaps we could raise loads of green papers and have that mayor caught and "euthanised" (like, take him out and shoot him at dawn). Whew, I thought I was a peaceful person... xxx

  23. My Mum had two tuxie kitties living next door to her when she was a little girl and their names were Me and My. She has always thought that was so cute for two cats, so that is my submisstion - Me and My.

  24. Parker,
In front of the steps to the New York Public Library there are 2 famous stone lions and they are called Patience and Fortitude. They are very famous; (you can read more here: http://www.nypl.org/pr/lions.cfm )there is even a TV show for bean kittens called "Between The Lions".

I think these would be good names, because we kitties need lots of patience and fortitude when we hear 'in a minute' coz we're askin for our dinner.

  25. Hello Miss Parker! I have missed coming to see you so sorry about that! Wow those lions look so regal. I would name the on Aslan and the other Leopold. They remind mommy of the royal BAVARIAN lions on the crest. Kind Leopold would be honored and Aslan of course would be honored also...he is the Alpha cat you know!
Those postcards are so sweet. There is a stroy that goes with them and I will tell it on CAT ART SUNDAY so pop back OK? Love to you and all the furries, Powder, Puff and Rudy and the doggie too:)

  37. I'm so glad your momma and daddy are back to get you plenty of treats, Parker! Those new kitties will probably have lots of pigeons to take care of since they'll live outside, so maybe they should be named Bert and Ernie.

    Hakuna

    and

    Matata

    From the Lion King!

    Hakuna Matata!
    What a wonderful phrase
    Hakuna Matata!
    Ain't no passing craze

    It means no worries
For the rest of your days
    It's our problem-free philosophy
    Hakuna Matata!

  40. Hmmm...lots of good suggestions so far. I'll have to give this some thought!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am afraid I don't have any ideas right now. I will think about it. Those are a pair of very regal looking lions.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh I would call them:

    Bert & Ernie

    What does you think Parker?

    Poppy Q

    ReplyDelete
  43. Skittles picked one of our choices - Hakuna Matata literally means no worries in Swahili - and as cats we shouldn't have any.

    Our first choices tho are:
Paka - it means cat in Swahili
Upenzi - it means love in Swahili

Every home needs love and a cat.

    Tiki, Tavi, Cody and Camie

PS - Lion is Simba in Swahili

    ReplyDelete
  44. Those lions look rather regal. I am therefore of the firm opinion that one should be called Yao and the other Lin.

    ;-) x

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think you should call them Sigfried and Roy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Let me see.....how about Louie and Lyla?

  47. Skeeter: Leonides an Felinistis.

LC: Hobo and Bum. They're male lions they don't hunt their own food...

Ayla: Thing 1 and Thing 2. I just read the nicest book about "Cat inna Hat"...

    ReplyDelete
  48. 'kay, we thought about it.

We think you should name them Mufasa and Simba, from The Lion King to represent the Circle of Life in your home.

Or paint them Gray and name them Gandalf & Grayson ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. How about LEFT and RIGHT.

That's because the like the same and I can never tell my left and right apart. FAZ

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dear Parker,
This is what I would name them:
GUR: It means cub, young lion and comes from Hebrew. I like the fact that the name sounds like sounds lions and cats make.

DILLON: It means like a lion, loyal. It comes from Irish/Gaelic.

    Good luck in picking.

    Gur which means young cub
Gryffen the gryphon was a fierce creature with the foreparts as a eagle and the hindparts of a lion...
OH and I had to throw in ABBAS which is arabic for lion...
Momma calls me Abbas and didn't even realize she was saying I was a lion.

On da ofur hand, we also likes Skittles the Huntress' suggestion - Hakuna and Matata coz they am such fun, happy names. Makes dem big cats soften up a little.
