Of Naps and Snacks and Things...

Hay' 'ya kitties, it's me, Parker here. Daddy caught me in this rather jaunty pose last week and I thought I would let Mommy share it with all of you. I have become rather picky about my photos because of my eyes and my weight. But I think this one is sort of nice. And yes, those are fresh-out-of-the-dryer flannel sheets that I am lying on. Warm and comfy I tell ya'...
I continue to hang in here. I feel your prayers and I know I am very loved. My appetite is a tiny bit less than it was this week and that has the 'rents a little worried. I don't know what the near future holds but all of here at Casa de' Parker are choosing to live and love one day at a time.
Thanks for all of your words of love and encouragement. We read every single one and it gives us such a good feeling to know that I have so many positive vibes out there in the universe!

Hi kitties. I thought I would post an update with Mommy's help. As you can see I am well taken care of and my buddy Diamond Doggie keeps a good eye on me while I rest and nap. I still have my appetite and I am not in any pain. I can still sing for my stinky goodness and I can navigate around the house with ease. I am just a lot slower and very cautious. There is nothing that I want or need. Except a cure for this rotten cancer. I am safe and warm and I feel everyone's love. The 'rents are always near by and they keep the fireplace on when I want to nap near it. Life is as good as it can be.
I allow Mommy to go to her hunting place and our little shelter. But other than going to the grocery store, she doesn't roam very far from me. Daddy is the same way.
I'm blessed to be a formerly feral gal.

The Board of directors of the Humane Society of Allen County with Santa

Hi kitties - I wanted to show you the board that makes sure the animals at our little shelter are well taken care of. Mommy is the lady standing to the left of Santa. She says her work there makes her heart sing. They are a great group of people and they all have one common goal - to improve the lives of the animals in our county. Mommy says that they are what's called a "working board". That just means that they clean kennels, do adoptions, paint walls, scrub floors and anything else that needs to be done. They also run the shelter on a skinny shoestring. Anyhow, I just thought I'd share this with you.

I'm so very, very tired anymore. I have enjoyed getting holiday cards from all of you and I want to say thanks. I nap most of the time. When I'm not napping I am eating. When I am not napping or eating I am sticking close to the 'rents. Mommy is calling me her Christmas Miracle because I'm hanging in there. No pain and no complaints, but I am slowly fading and sometimes I dream about the Bridge. I'm not scared and I feel surrounded by love. I will try to post more this Christmas week. Mommy has time off from her other job, so maybe I can convince her to help me.

Goober, with his new forever family!

Hi everyone! I thought I would give you a little update between my naps. As you can see, Goober, the dog who showed up on our front porch (poofy tails!!!) and almost became a member of our family, was adopted last week. Mommy said he's going to a great family who will love him AND he has a dog-sibling. I just hope that they change his name...

As for me, naps are my favorite thing. I am so tired all of the time - well, except when it's time to eat. Yup, I still have my famous appetite and I get treats like you wouldn't believe kitties. I am doing my very best to make sure that I get to see Santa Claws come down our chimney and fill my stocking. That's my 'rents Christmas wish as well. I think your prayers and sweet good wishes are helping me hang on for a while. Thanks kitties and beans.

Our Christmas tree has been up and we take turns napping underneath. It smells wonderful. I don't see very well any longer so my nose has been helping me identify things - like roast chicken and Temptations! I'll say see you later for now, I need to take a little nap. Mommy has not taken a very good photo of me lately, so I leave you with my tried and true profile photo and a smoochie.

Hangin' With Santa

Hey kitties! Here I am telling Santa about all of the things I hope that I find in my stocking. This is a very old rug. My Mommy's Mommy made it the year my Mommy was born. That makes it a true antique! It's very cozy and I like hanging out with Santa. I snoopervise the decorating activity from here. The perfect spot for the perfect snoopervisor. I take a lot of nap breaks, but the 'rents appreciate my decorating tips. We're taking things day to day and I am hoping that I have plenty of time to enjoy whatever Santa leaves in my stocking. I'm asking for lots of Temptations and Stinky Goodness.
In other news, my siblings are all doing well. Rudy is fat and sassy, Puff is still gorgeous and Powder is still teenie tiny and full of energy. Diamond is still a dog and I mean that in the nicest way. Mommy has been at our little shelter a lot helping homeless animals get adopted. Guess what? Goober got adopted on Saturday to a great home! Mammy cried a few happy tears. The 'rents are putting the tree up today - it looks pretty good and I think there is a nap under it in my future.

Parker Update

Hi everykitty and 'rent - I wanted to stop in and say hello. I'm taking lots of naps and eating lots of leftover turkey. I found a sunspot too - it felt good.
We had company over for Thanksgiving and I was able to visit with them. I still feel pretty OK, but I am very tired. The 'rents don't hover over me too much, but they sure do stick close. That's OK 'cause I'm always up for a cuddle or two anymore. No pain, good appetite and very tired. That about sums it up.
I hope your Thansgiving was full of turkey and love.

HiYa' - It's ME! RUDY! With the Rudy Report. I do not know where to start. We first and foremost have our attention turned to Parker Pie who keeps on keeping on, slower and quieter, but she keeps on.
Your prayer and purrs are helping, so thank you from me and my little sis and all of our family here in O Hi O.

This is Newton at our little shelter.. kitties, you have no idea how close this boy came to live at our home (Poofy tail!),I'm going to let Mommy tell the story...

Mommy here- we thought we could make a smooth transition with Newton sharing our home. we took Diamond to the shelter today to meet Newton, It did not go well. Even with the proper way to introduce dogs, Diamond was having none of it and that sealed the deal. I had lots of reservations with Parker being sick and that, with the combination of Diamond hating the idea and Newton being so LARGE-well, there is a better place for him, There is aready a family interested in him. He's just not for our little family, He gets his neuter tomorrow and will be on the adoption floor on Saturday. I'll make it my mission that he gets his forever home.

She's having a good day! Her appetite is still great and she's a lap hog. We just take one day at a time.

Hey kitties - what's up? I'm feeling good enough to give you an update today. The radiator is warm and I have a belly full of Stinky Goodness. The 'rents are taking it easy today, so there is a lot of lap time in my future. I am in no pain and most of the time I just wander around the homestead and meow at the 'rents to give me food and treats. Most of the time it works - they are such suckers...

As you can see, I'm skinny as a super-model. I guess I could go to Hollywood and be a superstar with my own talkshow and I could star in movies - I should have gotten in touch with Puss-In-Boots, I bet I would have made a great leading lady...

The Rudy Report

Hey kitties - it's ME - RUDY! With your Rudy Report. I am trying very hard to be a good big brother to Parker. As you can see I let her nap next to me in front of the warm and toasty fire. The 'rents are proud of me because I hardly ever tease or chase her. She still has her famous appetite, but she is still skinny. She does not walk fast but she can still jump up on the sofa and radiators. The bed is a little high for her now, so Daddy carries her up the stairs and helps her on to the bed. She still enjoys sleeping by the 'rents heads all night long. She's in no pain, but Mommy says that she is slowly beginning to fade. We all make the most of our time together and Parker loves it when Mommy shares her dinner with her. I think that is the favorite time of the day for her. We thank you for your kind comments, prayers, purrs and encouraging emails. They brighten our days. We also thank you for supporting Parker's hissing and swatting out Diabetes - what a wonderful thing to do!

Soon it will be the day where mommy makes turkey - now that's one of my favorite days!

Keep those tails high kitties and keep praying for my little sis - she plans on being around for a long time. We pray that she gets her wish.

The Rudy Report

Sekoh kitties! It's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report. Frost on the pumpkins and the radiators are on! My little (well, maybe not little) hiney has been very warm sitting on them. As a matter of fact all of us kitties are loving the warmth of the radiators and we're stuck to them like Velcro. I am trying very hard to be a good big brother to Parker. She's OK, but not very feisty any more. Lots and lots of naps on the 'rents' laps and lots and lots of treats and stinky goodness. She has adjusted to her poor eyesight and still can jump up up things that aren't real, real high. She sends her love and smoochies to everyone.
We have not seen Rogue in a few weeks. We're hoping he found a home. That's what we are hoping...
But in the same way Rogue appeared, we had a very interesting thing happen Saturday evening. Mommy was relaxing on the sofa with Parker when she saw a big yellow tail through our front porch window door. She got up and told daddy to hang on to Diamond and she went to investigate. There, ON OUR PORCH, was a huge yellow lab dog. He had a chain collar on and it was attached to a leash. But there were no tags (Mommy said a few bad words about that). He was extremely friendly and he let Mommy take him by the leash. She walked up and down the sidewalk hoping that someone would stop and say "hey, there's my dog." Then it got dark. Diamond was not happy about this turn of events, and the 'rents did not want to stress our Parker, so Mommy put the big yellow lab in her car and they went to our little shelter. Mommy got a bed and some food and our new friend went into a kennel. He was happy for the food and he bedded down for the night. We are hoping that someone is looking for him and that they have the sense to call the shelter. Otherwise, he'll get medical clearance, a much-needed neuter and he will go up for adoption. Since he's such a sweet guy, his chances for adoption are very good. Mommy calls him "Goober" since he was such a sweet, dopey guy.
I am just happy he's safe and NOT ON OUR PORCH anymore! A few of us got a little poofy when we saw him. I'm not naming names though...

Hi kitties. I thought I'd give you a little update on how I am doing. Since it's getting chilly outside the fireplace is one of my favorite spots. It's warm and Daddy's chair is a wonderful spot to stay toasty. Puff likes to cat-nap in her ham-mick.

The fire makes me yawn-y and sleepy!

But the very best time is lap time. I have become quite the lap kitty. My days are filled with treats and stinky goodness and love from the 'rents. I'm quite content and am not in pain. My pretty blue eye is still quite pretty, but does not work, so I am hesitant about jumping up to high places and I have to think harder when I move from the floors to the bed or the couch or a lap.

I got a card from my psycho-handsome mancat Tripper. It was lovely. It made my mommy leak from her eyes a little.

I feel all of the love and hugs and purrs from you. It makes me warm and happy. Thank you so much. We read your messages and we peek at your blogs - but much of our time is spent snuggling and enjoying our time together. We know how precious time is - no matter if we have weeks or months or years left together, we want to soak up the love and the happiness and store it all up for the future.

Parker Pie Update

Hi everykitty and 'rent, Parker here. I know it's been a long time since I have posted on my blog, but there has been a reason. For the last few months I have not felt all that spiffy. I've been to Dr. Joe's more times than I care to remember and we've played "stump the experts" on just what is going on with me. I have been poked, prodded and x-rayed. Medicine and samples, research and worry. Last Friday Dr. Joe wanted to re-x-ray me. Less than a month ago all of my x-rays were clear. Friday they were not. It seems that I have a rather aggressive form of cancer by my tummy. It even made my blood pressure get high and now my pretty blue eye is not working anymore. I'm not in pain and I still have my famous appetite. I sleep a lot and I really love cuddles with the 'rents more than ever.
Dr. Joe and Mommy talked about my options. With surgery and drugs he thinks that it might provide me with just a little more time. Without the surgery and drugs, he is not sure how much time I have left in my body. He said weeks, or even months. The 'rents and I have decided that I'd much rather have some quality time at home without surgery and needles and medicine. If I am in pain, I'll have some medicine for that. And when I want to leave for the Bridge, I promised Mommy that I would tell her. Dr. Joe says that all we have to do is call and he will come here to help me on my journey. No more PTUs for me, no more car rides and no more going to the vet. I'm going to stay stress free and enjoy what precious time I have left with my awesome family.
I'm not going to lie about this, I am sad and so is the family. I hear the Bridge is an awesome place, but at 10 years old, I am the youngest kitty here. I still had things I wanted to do!
We'll still be blogging and providing updates. And if you could spare a prayer or two for us, it would be appreciated. The 'rents are taking this a lot harder than I am, and I think I feel the worst about that. I know that I am going somewhere awesome and I will always be with the 'rents in their hearts.

We interrupt The Rudy Report this week to introduce Rogue. He's very shy and not near ready to trust the 'rents. We wish that he would listen to us when we tell him that the 'rents are really trying to help. He's been eating well - Daddy puts food out for him when he shows himself. He is learning that if he shows up and one of the 'rents sees him, food is not far behind. It is getting cold outside and we'd love to catch him before winter. He's a handsome boy (well, we think he's a boy...)

Hello there kitties! It's ME! - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! It's fun to have a nap with Daddy - he has a cool sense of humor. He was trying to give me bunny ears. I was trying to sleep. Silly Daddy! We are happy to see that Parker is now grooming herself and has gained some more weight. She sends her love and thanks to all of you who have sent good wishes and purrs. Soon she will be well enough to pose for some photos and be back on her own blog.
My furs are growing back and it feels wonderful. They are soft and smooth and I am glad I have more of them now that it's cooler. Mommy and Daddy have spotted a feral kitty outside that they are now feeding and trying to catch. He's orange like me and we have named him Rogue since he is a wanderer. When we catch him, he'll go to the shelter for a wellness check and a neuter. If they can socialize him, he'll go up for adoption, if not he'll come back here to his territory and we'll set up a little shelter for him. As of now he won't come anywhere near Mommy or Daddy.
Mommy is getting ready for our little shelter's "Strut Your Mutt" that is on October 15th. Diamond gets to go but us kitties are going to take a pass on all of the canine fun.
I also hear a rumor that the 'rents are leaving us in a few weeks for some "alone time". Our awesome sitter will come, so I guess I am OK with that.

The Rudy Report With Another Parker Update

Hay ya' kitties, it's ME - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! Autumn on the deck rocks and I had a weekend full of fresh air, 'nip and treats. I love this time of year! I know we've been MIA lately, but all of our focus has been on Parker. On Friday she had to go back to Dr. Joe's because her wanted to do Xrays of her body. That was a tense day. She got dropped off and we had to wait a squillion years (3 hours in human time) for Dr. Joe to call Mommy. Well I am happy to report that she had no masses and she had gained about a half a pound! Dr. Joe just thinks that since she is prone to UTI's and she has a hard time shaking them that it made her feel miserable. She's become a lousy groomer (like me!) and she's still too skinny. I had a hard time convincing her to pose for some photos...

No! Get that away from me!

Parker is actually much better, but we have a ways to go until she is plumped up and matt free. She fights Mommy about getting brushed. But as you kitties know, Mommy always wins. Parker still has a heck of an appetite and she's enjoying all of the extra stinky goodness. We'll keep you posted as often as we can. It's a very busy time here in O Hi O!

A Perfectly Parker Update

The mom here - first of all I am sorry for not updating. Parker Pie is still struggling to recover from whatever it is that has her in less than "perfect" form. She's a little lethargic and still a little on the thin side. Her appetite is great and she's getting all the stinky goodness she wants. Her ver vist last Friday showed lingering traces of a UTI so she had to endure another shot from Dr. Joe. He wants to see her in a few weeks and if she's still not improving we move on to x-rays and a thyroid test. It isn't Hemobart like Rudy had - but we are still worried for our little gal.
I have my plate full with our little shelter, and, oh, that fulltime + job I have. So this little blog has suffered 'cause I need to spend all of the extra time hovering over Parker Pie.
I'll try to do better at updates, and any good vibes you can send for our precious Parker are greatly appreciated.
She sends much better smoochies that I do, but here's one from me - Smooch!

My report will be om Parker Pie, I am happy to report that she's about 85% back to her old, ornery self. She even bapped my on the nose while we were out on the deck! That's the sister I know and love! Parker goes to see Dr. Joe next week and I hope he agrees that she's better. Daddy has been slipping her extra stinky goodness while the rest of us pretend to nap. We know he's doing it - we're just nice that way! She wants all of her weight back on before she'll allow any pictures. So in the meantime you'll just need to feast your eyes on my handsomeness!

Nom, Nom, Nom...oh, hey kittties - it's ME! - RUDY! with your Rudy Report. There has been so much happening that I don't know where to start. I can start reporting by letting you know that I really love cat grass. But I think you can see that...
Here is my report on Parker Pie. I am worried about my little sister. She is not bouncing back the way we had hoped she would. Her appetite is still pretty hearty, but she sleeps a lot (even for a cat!) and she no longers plays with her toys the way that she always did. On the up side, she uses the box with no trouble and she seems to be in a pretty good mood (when she is awake). She is still too skinny. She has a Dr. Joe appointment in about a week and a half, but Mommy will probably make one sooner is we do not see improvement in a few days. Needless to say the 'rents are on high alert.
Mommy still needs to update you on the Bony Boys (it's all good news), but right now, her #1 priority is keeping an eye on Parker. Any good thoughts that you could send Park's way would be appreciated.

As the orange menace reported yesterday, I was stuffed into the PTU on Friday morning and brought to Dr. Joe's for my annual wellness exam. I was OK with it, I love Dr. Joe, he's very gentle and he really likes kitties. But when he weighed me he said "Hmmmm...". Now Mommy never likes it when he says "Hmmmm...". Seems as though I had lost some weight. After many questions about how I have been eating, acting, how I am in the litter box department - you know the drill...I had to get my bloods stolen AND he took some of my ::pee::! Turns out I am running a low-grade infection again. So I had to get a shot and I have to go back in three weeks and do it all over again. Dr. Joe said that I just might be prone to these things and told my Mommy not to worry. But she's Mommy and she has been worrying. Dr. Joe said that Mommy has to remember that I am getting older (!) and that I'm not a kitten any more. I resemble that remark - I'm going to be 10 years old very soon. I don't think that makes me a geezer cat - I'm the baby of our little cat family!

So if you can, think good thoughts that I'll check out A-OK when I go back and see Dr. Joe. Thanks kitties, smoochies to all of you!

Hello kitties! It's ME - RUDY! with your Rudy Report. As you can see, my furs are still very short, but are growing out. My fur feels like velvet and as a result, I get a lot of pets and strokes from the 'rents and anyone else who happens my way. So there's another reason that this shave-down was a good idea!

Mommy spent her birthday at the little shelter. They had a big garage sale and an open house. They raised a lot of much needed green papers, but the best thing about the day was, are you ready for this? - - - they adopted 12 kitties that day - 12 KITTIES!!! Mommy said that it was the best part of her birthday. One of the kitties had lived there for 3 years. She found a home with a great Mom and Dad and a big sister who just loved her! And the very last adoption of the day was Heather, who was Mommy's special, most favorite kitty at the shelter. And unlike the tears Mommy cried when the Bony Boys were dumped at the shelter on Wednesday night, her tears this time were tears of joy.

So it was a pretty good week. There's lots more to share. Tomorrow Parker is going to tell you about her annual check up with Dr. Joe last Friday. She got a little more than she bargined for...

What kind of "human" lets this happen?

Late in the afternoon after everyone had left the shelter for the day, the board president came back to the shelter to do some more work. These two puppies, plus another were found dumped and abandoned outside the receiving door. You can see every bone, they were covered in fleas and they were starving. I cannot tell you how sad this is. These poor guys were fed and given a flea bath. Please pray that they make a great recovery, our little shelter is determined to see that they get healthy and find awesome forever homes.
Mommy does not cry very often, but last night...she did.

I really don't see a downside to the entire ordeal - well maybe that whole PTU/grooming experience thing...but what's done is done...

The little shelter where Mommy volunteers

Mommy's heart has been stolen by all of the great animals at the Allen County Humane Society. She started on the board of directors there last May. Since then, her free time has been spent working to raise funds, recruit volunteers and increase adoptions. Like a lot of shelters, they struggle to operate on a shoestring budget (wait, what's smaller than a shoestring? That's what they operate on...). Anyhow, she's been focusing on helping out at the shelter and that means that there is less time to help me on my blog. We had a long talk about this and we decided that I will share my blog with the animals at the shelter and that way everykitty wins!
Helping out at the shelter does not mean that any of us at home get neglected. She still takes the time to play with us and snuggle, and we do not mind her giving some love to the shelter kids. All of us understand that they need help. We're happy to send Mommy over there to pitch in. After all, I know what it's like to not have a forever home.
So we have a favor to ask. Please go over to the shelter's Facebook page and like us. That way you can see some of the great animals that are looking for homes. You can also see some of the cool events that our little shelter have planned. They're going to have a giant garage sale/open house on August 13th.
So there it is kitties. I am going to share. Just as long as they stay away from my 'nip and my toys...

Kunjhani kitties! It's me! RUDY! with your Rudy Report! Well today is the day I go and see Tiffany. I wonder how much fur I'll have left after it's all over. While I am at the groomers, Puff and Powder are going to be getting their ~~geezer~~ check-ups with Dr. Joe on the other side of town. AND Mommy has some tests she has to take. The PTU's were lined up side by side yesterday and we were eyeing them with great suspicion. Diamond started shaking his ears yesterday, so there is a pretty good chance that he'll be taking a trip to see Dr. Kathy today. He gets a yeast infection in his ears sometimes and that's what the 'rents thinks he has going on. If that does happen, he'll get a nail trim in the bargin. You know what? That only leaves Parker with no where to go...

Thirteen Years or Thirteen Months?

Puff plays like a kitten, inhales nip, loves stinky goodness, along with a good lap to sit on and a brush through her floof. Will still deliver a wicked smack-down to her siblings and purrs like there is no tomorrow. She's the epitomy of a cat, gorgeous, mysterious, aloof and loving all at the same time. She and her sister Powder head to the vet on Monday for their ~~geezer~~ check-ups. Mommy still has a hard time believing that they are over 13 years old. Daddy thinks that it's her good Southwest Kansas genes.

'Sup kitties? It's me - RUDY! with your late Rudy Report! The 'rents were slackin' and that's why my report is a day late. Never mind that Mommy worked at our little shelter - I ought to be a priority!
Daddy was the hero of the weekend and gave us some deck time. Mommy, well, she'd on my list because I hear that I am going to the groomers next Monday. Unceremoniously dumped off in my PTU for a shave and a haircut. That's no way to treat a rockstar like me. Never mind that I won't let her comb me - never mind that I have mats on my butt and my back...I don't wanna' get shaved! 'Rents...sigh...
Anyway, it's hot and I am told that I will feel much better after I have the mats gone. I think I feel fine now!
So kitties, just don't be like me and let your beans brush you.

The Pink Glove Dance

A few months ago Mommy and about 600 other employees particpated in taping a video to raise awareness for breast cancer. The Pink Glove Dance has gained popularity with hospitals across the nation. Our hospital decided to join in to help fight this awful disease. There are no kitties in this video, but you will see one sweet woofie who joined his Mommy (who is a breast cancer survivor - Yay!). We were all very proud that Mommy rocked the pink - I'm not telling you exactly where she is, but I will tell you she was with a big group outside in the hospital's Serenity Garden. Wearing Pink. Ha-Ha!
The local TV station taped the video and edited it for us. Here's what the news said about it...
"It's a light hearted dance video, but the message couldn't be more serious.

Employees and administration of St. Rita's Medical Center gathered for the premiere showing of the new pink glove video. 600 St. Rita's employees and 40 breast cancer survivors are featured in the dance video wearing pink gloves.
The message is about the importance of mammograms and early detection when it comes to breast cancer. The pink glove dance will be used in house at St. Rita's and it will be used in a variety of ways as a marketing and advertising tool about breast cancer awareness, weaving the message throughout the community in an effort to fight breast cancer."

What did you say they're gonna' do to me?!?

I believe you all know my big sister Puff. She's gorgeous and she knows it. A while back we wrote about her "eye speckles" and through the years they have become larger. Her sight is fine and she still acts like a kitten. Next month Puff and Powder are due for their annual ~~geezer~~ geriatric check-ups. On the list of questions Mommy will be asking is for them to check out the eye speckles. In her past wellness checks our vets have said to just watch and as long as there are no symptoms of Puff having eyesight troubles (or any other issues), we'll just continue to monitor it.
~~Geezer~~ Geriatric wellness checks are much more extensive than younger kitty wellness checks. Blood panels are run and the physical exam is much more extensive. Since the Puffster is 13 years old, she has to be subjected to more pokes and prods and up close and personal stem to stern checks.
Yeah, she can't wait...

Heyello kitties! It's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! Nomming on nip was the thing to do this weekend! We were all liberally dosed with the home-grown stuff and we went to town! (Well, not literally to town, that would have not have been fun), but you get the idea! The hots were on the mild side and that's a good thing.
I seem to have sprouted a squillion mats on my back and butt, so I have to go and see Tiffany soon. She is a busy and popular groomer, so my date with her isn't for a few weeks. In the meantime mommy is unceremoniously hacking away at the mats with scissors when I am eating (I don't mind as much when I am eating). Let's just say that mommy should keep her day job and never aspire to become a stylist...my back looks like I ran under a mower!
Anyhow kitties, have an awesome week - keep those tails high and remember to lay on the love to your 'rents. Where would we be without them?

As the Rudester reported on Monday, when the 'rents went on vacation our 'nip plant bought the farm. It was pitiful and I know that this photo is hard to look at. But that's what no water and 90+ degrees will do to a plant. We were very, very sad.

Now, I have to give credit to the 'rents. They felt bad that there would be no 'nip crop to enjoy on those long summer evenings, so Mommy went out and found what was sure to be the last living 'nip plant for sale in our little corner of O Hi O. Daddy was a hero and planted the new nip so we can have party-time on the deck again!

...Extra added value - when the plant is watered, Rudy gets a little sippy. It's all good kitties!

Hi-Dee-Ho Kitties - it's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! It's been such a HOT Spring that we have been having to stay inside and dream about the deck. We only got out there one time. I nommed on some cat grass and took a big drink of water. Guess what happened about 5 minutes later? If you guessed that I yakked it all up at the bottom of the stairway, you win! Mommy says that this week might be a little better, the hots might go away and we can get back on the deck. The sad part is that when the 'rents left us to go on vacation, the catnip plant on the deck bought the farm. Now we have to start all over again with a new 'nip plant. Sigh...
Mommy is still working with our little shelter, trying to raise money so they can offer more services to the great animals that are living there until they find their forever homes. She reminds all of us how lucky we are. So many kitties, so few homes.
I hope all of you have a great week. I am still fat and sassy, big and bad and hard to diaper and handsome as ever. Oh, and modest, very, very modest.

Drama In O Hi O!

We were very lucky on Monday night. The weather got very scary. Tornado sirens were sounding and we needed to stay safe. Mommy was at our little Humane Society - she had to volunteer that night. Daddy was home with us. He knew we needed to get in the basement and take cover. So you know what he did all by himself? He gathered all of us kitties and took us to the big scary basement! He said that Diamond was his foreman and helped. We had never been in the basement before and it was not somewhere we thought we wanted to be. Especially Powder - Daddy told Mommy that for such a little kitty, she sure has a big attitude, and very, very sharp claws.
After it was all safe, Mommy came home and helped Daddy and Diamond pry us out from our hiding spots in the big scary basement and get us back to where we knew where we were. We hope that in the future big storms stay away from us. Our hearts break for the poor kitties and doggies and people in Joplin.
But now we know, no matter how much we fuss and do not cooperate, our Daddy will always make sure that we are safe. And he has the scars to prove it. We love you Daddy! And THANK YOU!

Mommy said that I am the cutest couch potato that she's ever known. Who am I to disagree? Since we had some rain this weekend I had to make do with some sofa-snoozes. That was OK, it's closer to the kitchen where there was steak! And chicken livers! Good smells out there.

Mommy's new position with our little Humane Society is keeping her very busy. But like I said, it's OK - I know it's helping those animals get forever homes. She'll have to tell you about it some day!

He turned 12 on Friday. I may or may not have shut down Blogger to avoid all of the Hoopla.

Yeah, he's cute, he's the one on the right. A suck-up right from the start.

He got pretty sick last year. We all were so worried, it took a lot out of all of us.

He's fine now. Big and bad and hard to diaper.

As brothers go, I guess I got lucky in that department.

I turn 10 in August. And I'm the baby.

Mommy says that she sometimes gets a little leaky eyed when people suggest that we are all Geriatric. I remind her that we are all here now. All of us, happy and healthy. That's the secret to happy, keep the love from the past in your heart, keep the love you get now in front of your whiskers. If only beans could remember that. Live for the moment kitties!

Qué tál kitties - it's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report!

For some of you who remember us back when we lived in Kansas City Missouri, you may remember that Mommy volunteered at Wayside Waifs. She has missed being a part of animal rescue and adoption ever since we moved to O Hi O. We have continued to donate and help in other little ways, but something was missing for her. Well kitties, she's gone and done it again. She was approached last month to become a board member at our little local humane society. She accepted.

At this little humane society board members don't just sit and plan stuff. They mow grass, clean cages and do just about anything that is needed. And kitties, there is a lot of need. A whole lot of need. I'll probably tell you more - but for right now just know that Mommy is overwhelmed (in a good way) and busy planning how to improve the situation we have here for homeless animals in our little corner of O Hi O.

I'm happy that she's started helping again, but it's cutting into her Rudy time. I suppose it's OK, cause these animals need help. So I'm gonna suck it up and be a good mancat about all of this...

allo,bonjour kitties! It's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! I thought I'd never be able to give my report again! Mommy is off and running with her new computer, there is a lot to learn, but she's hanging in there. I like that it's fast and I can watch myself on videos and zip through the internets without getting kicked off.

We celebrated Diamond Doggie's birthday on the deck with some 'nip and some catgrass. It was awesome. We have pretty flowers planted and the doors are open so we can sniff through the screens. Bliss, pure bliss.

Here's to a week that keeps your tail high!

Communication Breakdown...Kinda Sorta

We're here, with our new computer. Mommy is learning all sorts of new things. Mainly new words to add to her bad word list. She does like the computer. Did you know that you can't save/edit your Blogger profile with your gmail address? You can use any other address, but not your gmail...the very gmail address that Mommy wanted to switch to so she could lose her Outlook address...WTH? What she doesn't like about the new computer is that it's way, way, way smarter than she is...

Sweet Praline
September 25, 1995 ~ April 25th, 2011

We lost a very dear friend yesterday. Sweet Praline acheived angel status at the Rainbow Bridge. Praline was such a beautiful kitty that had a loving and devoted Mommy. I know that her Mommy must feel all kinds of sad and heartbroken over the loss of such a special kitty. We send her our love and we hope that soon her memories of Sweet Praline will make her smile more than they make her cry.

おはよう kitties! It's me - RUDY! with your Rudy Report! I hope your Easter weekend was a nice one. We had the mother of all meats - HAM! and I am here to tell you it was very, very nommy. Parker was so happy about this that she couldn't stay out of the kitchen while Mommy was preparing it. She kept yelling "HAM! HAM! HAM!" That cat sure has a set of lungs on her.

After our feast I was feeling quite generous and allowed Parker to share the 'nip infused Turbo Track with me. We actually played together with no whapping from either side. Hey, it was Easter, I felt the need to be good. Too bad the weather was all rainy and chilly. I bet the Easter Bunny had to wear a sweater!
One more week until the new computer is supposed to be here.
